Dendritic fibromyxolipoma (DFML) is a rare variant of spindle cell lipoma. It is characterized by extensive myxoid change and the presence of stellate cells with dendritic processes. The present study reports three cases of DFML that arose from the limbs and thoracic cavity. Pathologically, the tumor was composed of mature adipocytes admixing with patch spindle cells in a myxoid stroma. The cell atypia was not apparent and mitotic figures were rare. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the spindle cells were strongly positive for CD34. The three patients demonstrated no significant issues during a two-year's follow-up without evidence of recurrence and metastasis. The current study additionally reviewed all reported DFML cases in the PubMed database and Chinese journals.

Dendritic fibromyxolipoma (DFML) is a benign, very rare, and slow-growing soft tissue tumor commonly involving the muscular fascia of the foot, calf, shoulders, back, or head and neck muscles. Many authors consider dendritic fibromyxolipoma a variant of spindle cell lipoma composed of a plexiform vascular pattern, dendritic cytoplasmic processes, and keloidal collagen. Only a few cases have been reported in the shoulder region, and the presented case represents the second case in English literature whose histopathology showed intramuscular involvement.

Dendritic fibromyxolipoma (DFML) is an uncommon benign tumor. We report the first DFML in the right thorax of a child. An 11-year-old girl was admitted because of a giant tumor in the right thorax.

Spindle cell lipoma (SCL) is a benign subcutaneous lipomatous neoplasm with a heterogeneous histologic appearance that varies greatly depending on the amount of fat, collagen, and myxoid stroma, which define the multiple subtypes of SCL, such as fat poor SCL, pseudoangiomatous SCL, and dendritic fibromyxolipoma. Cutaneous lymphoid hyperplasia is a spectrum of benign conditions characterized by reactive B-cell and T-cell cutaneous lymphocytic infiltrates. Cutaneous B-cell lymphoid hyperplasia is a heterogeneous group of non-neoplastic conditions that can be observed as reactive phenomena to infections, medications, allergens, or neoplasms and must be distinguished from cutaneous B-cell lymphomas.

Dendritic fibromyxolipoma is a rare recently described benign soft tissue tumor, which may be misinterpreted histologically as myxoid liposarcoma or myxoid malignant fibrous histiocytoma. We describe FDG PET/CT and MRI findings of a dendritic fibromyxolipoma incidentally detected in a case with rectal adenocarcinoma. The dendritic fibromyxolipoma showed inhomogeneous FDG uptake with SUVmax of 4.
