The active manipulation of nuclear spins with radio-frequency (RF) coils is at the heart of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and spin-based quantum devices. Here, we present a miniature RF transmitter designed to generate strong RF pulses over a broad bandwidth, allowing for fast spin rotations on arbitrary nuclear species. Our design incorporates (i) a planar multilayer geometry that generates a large field of 4.35 mT per unit current, (ii) a 50 Ω transmission circuit with a broad excitation bandwidth of ∼20 MHz, and (iii) an optimized thermal management leading to minimal heating at the sample location. Using individual C nuclear spins in the vicinity of a diamond nitrogen-vacancy center as a test system, we demonstrate Rabi frequencies exceeding 70 kHz and nuclear π/2 rotations within 3.4 μs. The extrapolated values for H spins are about 240 kHz and 1 μs, respectively. Beyond enabling fast nuclear spin manipulations, our transmitter system is ideally suited for the incorporation of advanced pulse sequences into micro- and nanoscale NMR detectors operating at a low (<1 T) magnetic field.

Background: Rapid kilovolt (kV)-switching dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) has been increasingly applied to the measurement of lumbar spine bone mineral density (BMD) in humans and animal models. The objective of this study was to investigate the optimal parameters for the measurement of vertebral BMD. The BMD of the spinal model was measured by means of DECT in combination with different noise index (NI) and preset adaptive statistical iterative reconstruction Veo (ASiR-V) levels.

Purpose: In addition to rodent models, the chick embryo model has gained attention for radiotracer evaluation. Previous studies have investigated tumours on the chorioallantoic membrane (CAM), but its value for radiotracer imaging of intracerebral tumours has yet to be demonstrated.
Procedures: Human U87 glioblastoma cells and U87-IDH1 mutant glioma cells were implanted into the brains of chick embryos at developmental day 5.

Ranking sectors and countries within global value chains is of paramount importance to estimate risks and forecast growth in large economies. However, this task is often non-trivial due to the lack of complete and accurate information on the flows of money and goods between sectors and countries, which are encoded in input-output (I-O) tables. In this work, we show that an accurate estimation of the role played by sectors and countries in supply chain networks can be achieved without full knowledge of the I-O tables, but only relying on local and aggregate information, e.

A 54-year-old woman was referred by her rheumatologist for evaluation of an elevated serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in the setting of polyarthritis. The metabolic work-up was significant for an elevated bone fraction of alkaline phosphatase isoenzymes, and high bone turnover markers, including fasting C- telopeptide (CTX). A diagnosis of Paget's disease of bone (PDB) was considered.

Background: Gastric accommodation (GA) testing is gaining clinical recognition as novel and minimally invasive modalities emerge. We investigated the feasibility of hybrid nuclear imaging volumetry (SPECT/CT) and combined high-resolution manometry-nutrient drink test (HRM-NDT) to assess GA.
Methods: In this non-randomized pilot study, [Tc]NaTcO gastric SPECT/CT (250 mL protocol) and proximal gastric HRM-NDT (~60 mL/min protocol) were performed separately within 30 days using Ensure Gold test meal (1.
