A structure that consists of a λ/4 stepped-impedance microstrip resonator is proposed as an instrument for the investigation of nonlinear effects in thin magnetic films and also can be used as a microwave frequency doubler. A conversion efficiency of 0.65% is observed at a one-layer 100 nm NiFe thin film at an input signal level of 4.6 W for a 1 GHz probe signal. The maximum measured conversion efficiency (1% at 1 GHz) was achieved for the 9-layer NiFe film where 150 nm magnetic layers were separated by SiO layers.

Article Synopsis
  • Multichannel transceiver coil arrays are essential for enhancing parallel imaging and B1 manipulation in ultrahigh field MR imaging and spectroscopy, but designing them poses challenges related to high frequency operation and electromagnetic decoupling.
  • This study introduces a high impedance microstrip transmission line resonator (HIMTL) technique that addresses these challenges by providing high frequency capability and sufficient EM decoupling without extra circuits.
  • A two-channel array was created for a 10.5T application, tuned to the proton Larmor frequency of 447 MHz, and tests showed that the HIMTL technique is a viable solution for developing high performance transceiver coils for ultrahigh field MR imaging.

MicroSystems Lab (µSL), School of Computer and Systems Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, 110067 India.

This paper demonstrates real-time, label-free, contact-based glucose sensor design of inset-fed Microstrip Patch Antenna (MSPA) genres: Slotted Microstrip Patch Antenna (SMSPA) and Through-hole Microstrip Patch Antenna (THMSPA). In SMSPA, multiple slots are created along the width edge of the patch. In THMSPA, a through-hole is introduced across the antenna including all the layers: patch, substrate and ground conductor of the MSPA.

Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) antennas have recently received attention for improving wireless communication data rates in rich scattering environments. Despite this, the challenge of isolation persists prominently in compact MIMO-based electronics. Various techniques have recently emerged to address the isolation issues, among which the defected ground structure (DGS) stands out as a cost-effective solution.
