We demonstrate that single scattering of -polarized waves from uncorrelated surface and volume disorder can lead to perfect depolarization. The degree of polarization vanishes in specific scattering directions that can be characterized based on simple geometric arguments. Depolarization results from a different polarization response of each source of disorder, which provides a clear physical interpretation of the depolarization mechanism.

The ferroelectric photovoltaic effect (FPVE) enables alternate pathways for energy conversion that are not allowed in centrosymmetric materials. Understanding the dominant mechanism of the FPVE at the ultrathin limit is important for defining the ultimate efficiency. In contrast to the wide band gap conventional thin-film ferroelectrics, 2D α-InSe has an ideal band gap of 1.

Optimal heart function depends on perfect synchronization between electrical and mechanical activity. In this pilot study, we aimed to investigate the electromechanical activity of the heart in healthy cats and cats with cardiomyopathy with phonocardiography (PCG) synchronized to an electrocardiography (ECG) pilot device. We included 29 cats (12 healthy cats and 17 cats diagnosed with cardiomyopathy) and performed a clinical examination, PCG synchronized with ECG and echocardiography.

Bladder cancer (BCa) is one of the most common malignancies of the urinary tract. Metastasis and recurrence of BCa are the leading causes of poor prognosis, and only a few patients can benefit from current first-line treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy. It is urgent to develop more effective therapeutic method with low side effects.

Ferroelectric polycrystalline HfO thin films are the most promising material for the implementation of novel non-volatile ferroelectric memories because of their attractive properties, such as compatibility with modern Si technology, perfect scalability, low power consumption and high endurance. However, for the commercialization of ferroelectric memory, some crucial aspects of its operation should be addressed, including the polarization switching mechanism that determines the switching speed. Although several reports on polarization switching kinetics in HfO-based layers already exist, the physical origin of retardation behavior of polarization switching at the low and medium switching fields remains unclear.
