A Noncatalytic Cysteine Residue Modulates Cobalamin Reactivity in the Human B Processing Enzyme CblC.

Biochemistry

January 2025

Laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry and Metabolism, Department of General Pediatrics, Adolescent Medicine and Neonatology, Faculty of Medicine, Medical Center, University of Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau 79106, Germany.

Human CblC catalyzes the indispensable processing of dietary vitamin B by the removal of its β-axial ligand and an either one- or two-electron reduction of its cobalt center to yield cob(II)alamin and cob(I)alamin, respectively. Human CblC possesses five cysteine residues of an unknown function. We hypothesized that Cys149, conserved in mammals, tunes the CblC reactivity.

Following a perinatal death, parents can experience mental health difficulties and social stigma around the loss that can lead to increased feelings of isolation. This meta-synthesis aimed to explore partners' experiences of perinatal death following miscarriage, stillbirth and neonatal death. A search of six electronic databases resulted in the inclusion of 18 studies involving over 300 fathers.

The basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor PpeUNE12 regulates peach ripening by promoting polyamine catabolism and anthocyanin synthesis.

Plant Physiol Biochem

January 2025

College of Horticulture, Henan Agricultural University, 218 Pingan Road, 450046, Zhengzhou, China; Henan Engineering and Technology Center for Peach Germplasm Innovation and Utilization, Zhengzhou, 450046, China; International Joint Laboratory of Henan Horticultural Crop Biology, Henan Agricultural University, Zhengzhou, 450046, China. Electronic address:

The basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factors (TFs) play important roles in various plant developmental and biological processes. However, the precise mechanisms by which bHLH TFs regulate fruit ripening warrant further investigation. Polyamine oxidase (PAO) is crucial for polyamine (PA) catabolism and plays crucial roles in fruit ripening.

Pitch-based correspondences related to abstract concepts.

Acta Psychol (Amst)

January 2025

Phonetics and speech synthesis research group, Department of Digital Humanities, Faculty of Arts, University of Helsinki, Unioninkatu 38, Helsinki, Finland. Electronic address:

Previous investigations have shown pitch-based correspondences with various perceptual and conceptual attributes. The present study reveals two novel pitch-based correspondences with highly abstract concepts. Three experiments with varying levels of implicitness of the association task showed that the concepts of future and in are associated with high-pitch sounds, while past and out are associated with low-pitch sounds.

2-Amino-3-methylimidazole [4,5-] quinoline (IQ) is a kind of heterocyclic amine (HCAs) with high carcinogenicity in hot processed meat. Rutin (Ru) is a flavonoid compound with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. However, whether Ru is scatheless under IQ-stimulated potential unhealthy conditions, especially liver function, in vivo, is unknown.
