To investigate the relationship between Helicobacter pylori(H.pylori) infection and laryngeal lesions. 204 patients with laryngeal lesions were arranged into laryngeal lesions group, and 150 healthy persons who were willing to accept the electronic fiber gastroscopy examination in the same period were selected as control group. The positive rate of H.pylori infection in the two groups was observed and the association between H.pylori infection status and clinical characteristics in patients with laryngeal diseases was analyzed. The positive rate of H.pylori infection in laryngeal lesion group and control group were 56.86% and 47.33%(χ²=3.150, =0.076), respectively. Among the patients with laryngeal lesion, the positive detection rate of H.pylori was not associated with age, gender, or gastric disease history. The positive rate of H.pylori infection in benign lesions, precancerous lesions and laryngeal malignant lesions were 53.70%, 55.56% and 75.00%, respectively. The difference of positive rate of H.pylori infection in laryngeal malignant lesions was significantly higher than other kinds of lesions(χ²=6.338, =0.012). Among laryngeal precancerous lesions and laryngeal malignant lesions patients, the appearance rate of gastrointestinal lesions were significantly higher in the patients with positive H.pylori infection than those without H.pylori infection(<0.05). H.pylori infection was positively related to the severity of laryngeal lesions and highly positively related to laryngeal malignant lesions.

Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), is linked to gastric cancer. The progression from atrophy to metaplasia, dysplasia, and carcinoma constitutes the pathway for intestinal-type gastric carcinoma development.

Tampere Centre for Child, Adolescent and Maternal Health Research, Faculty of Medicine and Health Technology, Tampere University, Tampere, Finland.

Objectives: The clinical significance of Helicobacter pylori-negative chronic gastritis (HPNCG) in children is unclear. We examined this issue in patients who had undergone esophagogastroduodenoscopy with systematic gastric sampling.

Methods: Data of 1178 consecutive children who underwent diagnostic esophagogastroduodenoscopy were collected.

Immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disease characterised by production of autoantibodies against platelet surface antigens. Recent studies have demonstrated a paramount association of ITP and infection with significant rise in platelet count following eradication therapy. The infection induced ITP is validated by many proposed mechanisms such as molecular mimicry due to production of autoantibodies against surface virulent factors (CagA) and cross reactivity of these antibodies with platelet surface antigens (GP IIb/IIIa, GP Ib/IX, and GP Ia/IIa), phagocytic perturbation due to enhanced phagocytic activity of monocytes, enhanced dendritic cell numbers and response, platelets aggregation due to presence of anti- IgG and von Willebrand factor (vWf) and finally host immune response against virulent factors CagA and VacA leading to ITP.
