We describe the synthesis, structure, and functionalities of water-soluble linear coordination polymers of human serum albumin and haemoglobin, which are connected via a bis(terpyridyl)-Fe complex. These protein fibres were self-assembled by lyophilisation and were transformed into single-wall nanotubes. The biological activities of the protein units were perfectly preserved in the long fibres.

Waste sorting is a key part of sustainable development. To maximize the recovery of resources and reduce labor costs, a waste management and classification system is established. In the system, we use Internet of Things (IoT) and edge computing to implement waste sorting and the systematic long-distance information transmission and monitoring.

Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP), serves as a reliable and vital biomarker for precise diagnosis and effective monitoring of hepatocellular carcinoma, requires precise detection. Herein, a sandwich-structured electrochemical immunosensor was crafted, employing three-dimensional layered porous carbon modified with gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) as the substrate and Au NPs/CuS as the labeling compound for accurate and sensitive detection of AFP. Due to the effective coordination between the 3D carbon network, Au NPs, and hollow CuS nanocubes, the sandwich-structured electrochemical immunosensor was able to produce three distinct response signals via various detection techniques, demonstrating a broad linear range (0.

This paper describes the use of the layered conductive metal-organic framework (MOF) (nickel)-(hexahydroxytriphenylene) [Ni(HHTP)] as a model system for understanding the process of self-assembly within this class of materials. We confirm and quantify experimentally the role of the oxidant in the synthetic process. Monitoring the deposition of Ni(HHTP) with infrared spectroscopy revealed that MOF formation is characterized by an initial induction period, followed by linear growth with respect to time.

Analysing reaction time distributions can provide insights into decision-making processes in the brain. The Linear Approach to Threshold with Ergodic Rate (LATER) model is arguably the simplest model for predicting reaction time distributions and can summarise distributions with as few as two free parameters. However, the coordinates for visualising and fitting distributions using LATER ("reciprobit" space) are irregular, making the application of this simple model inaccessible to those without a programming background.

Two artificial imidazole-derived nucleobases, HQIm (3H-imidazo[4,5-f]quinolin-5-ol) and CaIm (imidazole-4-carboxylate), were introduced into short DNA duplexes to systematically investigate their thermal stability upon metal ion coordination. Metal-mediated base pairs are formed with the 3d metal ions CoII, NiII and ZnII, as well as with the lanthanoid ions EuIII and SmIII, which induce a thermal stabilization of up to 8 °C upon binding. The latter are the first lanthanoid-mediated base pairs involving only four donor atoms that result in a significant duplex stabilization.
