Here, we report on ultrafast all-optical modulation of the surface-plasmon (SP)-assisted transverse magneto-optical Kerr effect (TMOKE) and the reflectance in a one-dimensional nickel magnetoplasmonic crystal (MPC). A 50 fs nonresonant laser pump pulse with 7 mJ/cm fluence reduces the magnetization by 65%, which results in the suppression of TMOKE in the SP-resonant probe from 1.15% to 0.4%. The differential reflectance of SP-resonant probe achieves 5.5%. Besides this, it is shown that electron thermalization and relaxation in MPC are several times slower than those in the plane nickel.

In the suggested optical fiber-based magnetoplasmonic system, we investigated the magnetic properties of graphene/nickel nanostructures. The plasmonic mode changes under the magnetic field observed in the intensity diagrams over time. To be accessible, cheap, and portable, we used a smartphone as a detector and processor.

Hyperbolic metamaterials (HMM) based on multilayered metal/dielectric films or ordered arrays of metal nanorods in a dielectric matrix are extremely attractive optical materials for manipulating over the parameters of the light flow. One of the most promising tools for tuning the optical properties of metamaterialsis the application of an external magnetic field. However, for the case of HMM based on the ordered arrays of magneto-plasmonic nanostructures, this effect has not been clearly demonstrated until now.

We present a novel concept of a magnetically tunable plasmonic crystal based on the excitation of Fano lattice surface modes in periodic arrays of magnetic and optically anisotropic nanoantennas. We show how coherent diffractive far-field coupling between elliptical nickel nanoantennas is governed by the two in-plane, orthogonal and spectrally detuned plasmonic responses of the individual building block, one directly induced by the incident radiation and the other induced by the application of an external magnetic field. The consequent excitation of magnetic field-induced Fano lattice surface modes leads to highly tunable and amplified magneto-optical effects as compared to a continuous film or metasurfaces made of disordered noninteracting magnetoplasmonic anisotropic nanoantennas.

We report on the optical and magneto-optical response of hybrid plasmonic lattices that consist of pure nickel and gold nanoparticles in a checkerboard arrangement. Diffractive far-field coupling between the individual emitters of the lattices results in the excitation of two orthogonal surface lattice resonance modes. Local analyses of the radiation fields indicate that both the nickel and gold nanoparticles contribute to these collective resonances and, thereby, to the magneto-optical activity of the hybrid arrays.
