Background: The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of stretching methods on flexibility, muscle activation, and pressure pain threshold in ballet dancers, and to suggest an effective stretching method.
Methods: Thirty-three ballet dancers were randomized to the static stretching group (n = 11), muscle energy technique stretching group (n = 11), and vibration-assisted stretching group (n = 11). The angle of hip joint extension in arabesque, activation of the rectus femoris in devéloppé, and pressure pain threshold on the rectus femoris in the sitting position were measured to compare the effects of the different stretching methods. Paired t-test was used to compare the pre and post-intervention findings within each group and one-way analysis of variance to compare the difference in the amount of changes among the groups.
Results: The hip joint extension angles increased in all stretching methods (p < 0.05); however, vibration-assisted stretching and muscle energy technique stretching were more effective than static stretching (p < 0.05). The activation of the rectus femoris decreased in all groups (p < 0.05); however the muscle energy technique stretching group and vibration-assisted stretching group showed a significant decrease in muscle activation compared with the static stretching group (p < 0.05). The pressure pain threshold significantly improved only in the static stretching group (p < 0.05); and vibration-assisted stretching group (p < 0.05).
Conclusions: Compared with static stretching and muscle energy technique stretching, vibration-assisted stretching is a beneficial method for improving flexibility, muscle activation, and pressure pain threshold in ballet dancers.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the accumulation of amyloid-beta (Aβ) plaques in the brain, contributing to neurodegeneration. This study investigates lipid alterations within these plaques using a novel, label-free, multimodal approach. Combining infrared (IR) imaging, machine learning, laser microdissection (LMD), and flow injection analysis mass spectrometry (FIA-MS), we provide the first comprehensive lipidomic analysis of chemically unaltered Aβ plaques in post-mortem human AD brain tissue.

Both resistance training (RT) and long-duration, high-intensity stretching induce muscular adaptations; however, it is unknown whether the modalities are complementary or redundant, particularly in well-trained individuals. A case-study was conducted on a competitive bodybuilder implementing long-duration, high-intensity stretching of the plantar flexors (60 min 6x/week for 12 weeks) in conjunction with their habitual RT. Ultrasound muscle architecture (muscle thickness [MT], fascicle length [FL], and pennation angle [PA]) measurements were collected at multiple sites at four weekly baseline sessions, six (mid) and 12 (post1) weeks following the commencement of the intervention, and a week after the intervention (post2) while isometric strength and range of motion (RoM) were obtained once at baseline, mid, post1, and post2.

There are several studies that announce the inhibitory behavior of this sort of substance to strengthen the shield of metals, which is one of the positive benefits of green inhibitors. In the current investigation, Araucaria heterophylla studied as a green corrosion inhibitor to avert the mild steel during the acidic cleaning. The examination of this plant's ability to control corrosion at different concentrations in the acidic solution used certain expert measures.

Rice (Oryza sativa) is a vital food crop and staple diet for most of the world's population. Poor dietary choices have had a significant role in the development of type-2 diabetes in the population that relies on rice and rice-starch-based foods. Hence, our study investigated the in vitro digestion and glycemic indices of certain indigenous rice cultivars and the factors influencing these indices.

Background: The lower birth canal is the final constriction through which a fetal head must pass for delivery. Unfortunately, injuries to the lower birth canal tissues occur in up to 19 % of first-time vaginal deliveries due to the 300 % stretch required.
Methods: This is a secondary analysis of data from 56 healthy nullipara recorded by a lower birth canal dilator during the first stage of labor.
