is a pathogen responsible for severe cases of food poisoning. spp. strains occurring in soil and water environments may serve as a reservoir of resistance determinants for pathogenic strains. A large collection of spp. strains (155) isolated from natural, agricultural, and urban areas was screened for resistance to heavy metals and metalloids, and the presence of resistance determinants and extrachromosomal replicons. Of the tested strains, 35% were resistant to cadmium and 17% to arsenic. Sequence analysis of resistance plasmids isolated from strains of and , and the chromosome of strain Sr73, identified a novel variant of the cadmium resistance efflux system, , that was functional in cells. The cassette was detected in four species, including strains of , isolated from various countries and sources-environmental, food-associated, and clinical samples. This resistance cassette is harbored by four novel composite or non-composite transposons, which increases its potential for horizontal transmission. Since some cassettes may influence virulence and biofilm formation, it is important to monitor their presence in spp. strains inhabiting different environments.

Background: Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is still a growing concern in the field of antimicrobial resistance due to its resistance to conventional antibiotics and its association with high mortality rates. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) have been shown as a promising and attractive alternative treatment for bacterial infections, due to their antibacterial properties and potential to bypass traditional resistance mechanisms. This study aims to shed light on the antibacterial potential of adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cell (AD-MSC) secretome against clinical isolates of Staphylococcus spp.

Background: Extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacterales (ESBL-PE), particularly Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, have been consistently associated with treatment failure, high mortality and morbidity. The emergence of carbapenem resistance among ESBL-PE strains exacerbates the antimicrobial resistance. However, data are very limited in developing countries as Burkina Faso.

We compared the salt tolerance and proteolytic activity of 120 strains of each of , , and . Most strains exhibited growth in 12% (w/v) NaCl and showed proteolytic activity in 10% or 11% NaCl. The majority of strains grew in 14% NaCl and showed proteolytic activity in 12% or 13% NaCl.

Organisms from the genus feature actinobacteria with complex developmental cycles and a great ability to produce a variety of natural products. These soil bacteria produce more than 2/3 of antibiotics used in medicine, and a large variety of bioactive compounds for industrial, medical and agricultural use. Although spp.

Environmental pH is an important parameter that impacts the growth, reproduction, and carbohydrate metabolism of Aureobasidium spp.. This study identifies the ApGph1 gene (encoded with Glycogen Phosphatase) reflecting significant carbohydrate metabolism difference through transcriptome analysis of Aureobasidium Pullulans YQ65 cultured under different pH.
