Background: Navigation surgical systems have been widely used in spinal fusion to ensure accuracy and safety during pedicle screw insertion.

Methods: The research was performed under laboratory conditions, using stereotactic navigation, surgical instruments for spinal fusion, development of additional devices and software. During the experiments, all stages of the computed tomography-guided navigation system use were performed-preoperative preparation of patient data and planning to provide visual control of the navigation of surgical instruments during the insertion of screws.

Background/objectives: Spinal metastases are a frequent and serious complication in cancer patients, often causing severe pain, instability, and neurological deficits. Thermal ablation techniques such as radiofrequency ablation (RFA), microwave ablation (MWA), and cryoablation (CA) have emerged as minimally invasive treatments. These techniques rely on precise imaging guidance to effectively target lesions while minimizing complications.

Objective: To explore the preliminary application value of real-time ultrasound-guided combined with CT monitoring in percutaneous cervical disc puncture injection for diagnostic trials.

Methods: Sixty patients with suspected cervical discogenic dizziness undergoing percutaneous cervical disc puncture between January 2023 and February 2024 were randomly divided into two groups: real-time ultrasound-guided combined with CT monitoring and CT-guided alone. The groups were compared for pre-puncture positioning time, total puncture process time, number of CT exposures, and complications.

Article Synopsis
  • - Recent improvements in image-guided tissue sampling, like CT, US, and MRI-guided biopsies, are enhancing diagnostics in oncology by targeting tissue characteristics effectively.
  • - New methods like fusion imaging and technologies such as molecular breast imaging and shear wave elastography are being explored, but ultrasound remains favored for its cost-effectiveness and ease of use.
  • - Innovations in biopsy techniques, including augmented reality and robotic assistance, are promising, yet further research and overcoming cost and access issues are necessary for broader implementation.

Background: MR-guided stereotaxy has emerged as a viable alternative to CT-guided frame-based or frameless approaches. By offering direct MR-guided navigation, this technique addresses most limitations inherent to CT navigation, enabling submillimeter precision.

Method: We detail the workflow of using the ClearPoint® MR navigation system for laser catheter placement in the treatment of a hypothalamic hamartoma.
