Five new α-pyrone derivatives, cryptoyunnanes A - E (-), together with four known analogues, were isolated from the leaves and twigs of . Their structures including absolute configurations were elucidated by extensive spectroscopic data and electronic circular dichroism (ECD) analyses. Compounds and showed significant cytotoxicity against A549, HCT-116, MDA-MB-231, PC-3 and HeLa with IC values from 2.25 to 8.97 M. Compounds , and also displayed good cytotoxicity against HCT-116, MDA-MB-231 and PC-3 with IC values from 1.26 to 8.32 M. This is the first time to report the isolation and bioactivity evaluation of chemical constituents from .

Synaptic plasticity plays a fundamental role in neuronal dynamics, governing how connections between neurons evolve in response to experience. In this study, we extend a network model of θ-neuron oscillators to include a realistic form of adaptive plasticity. In place of the less tractable spike-timing-dependent plasticity, we employ recently validated phase-difference-dependent plasticity rules, which adjust coupling strengths based on the relative phases of θ-neuron oscillators.

Although considered an "eco-friendly" biodegradable plastic, polylactic acid (PLA) microplastic (PLA-MP) poses a growing concern for human health, yet its effects on male reproductive function remain underexplored. This study investigated the reproductive toxicity of PLA in male mice and its potential mechanisms. To this end, our in vivo and in vitro experiments demonstrated that after degradation in the digestive system, a significant number of PLA-MP-derived nanoparticles could penetrate the blood-testis barrier (BTB) and localize within the spermatogenic microenvironment.
