Background And Objective: Patients with profound Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL) are susceptible to vestibular disturbances following Cochlear Implant (CI) surgery. This study aimed to evaluate vestibular dysfunctions following unilateral CI in the congenitally deaf children.
Methods: This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 24 children (mean age: 10.56 ± 5.49 years old) who underwent unilateral CI and 24 age-matched controls (mean age: 11.13 ± 6.21 years old). Vestibular functions were assessed by Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potential (VEMP) and Computerized Dynamic Posturography (CDP). The VEMP test was performed for otolith's function (especially saccule) evaluation. Sensory Organization Test (SOT) protocol of CDP was also utilized to differentiate the role of various sensory systems contributing to postural stability. In addition, total equilibrium score was calculated. The variables were comparatively assessed between the two groups.
Results: The mean p13-n23 amplitude in the CI users was significantly lower than the controls (p<0.05). However, the two groups showed no significant difference in cVEMP latency values (p>0.05). The SOT analysis revealed that 45.83% (11/24) of the CI subjects had some kind of sensory abnormalities: 7 cases (29.17%) vestibular, 2 cases (8.33%) visual, 2 cases (8.33%) vestibular and somatosensory involvements. Furthermore, total equilibrium score was significantly reduced in implanted group than the controls (p<0.001). At least, 70.59% (12/24) CI patients showed abnormal values in the CDP or cVEMP examinations.
Conclusion: This study shows functional vestibular impairments in children who underwent CI. These patients showed significantly increased postural instability which was more evident in dynamic conditions. These findings provide the basis for better pre-operative counseling and postoperative vestibular rehabilitation to CI recipients.

Under NaHCO stress, exogenous 24-epibrassinolide (EBR) markedly alleviated Na accumulation in cucumber plants, thereby decreasing the Na/K, Na/Mg, and Na/Ca ratios. This mitigation was accompanied by elevated concentrations of K, Ca, and Mg, as well as enhanced expression of the and genes. In addition, the activities of plasma membrane H-ATPase, vesicular membrane H-ATPase, and vesicular membrane H-PPase were significantly increased, contributing to the maintenance of ionic balance in cucumber plants.

The kinetics of anthracene hydrogenation was studied using the method of equilibrium kinetic analysis. To determine the diffusion-kinetic characteristics, anthracene hydrogenation was performed at different temperatures (648 K, 673 K, 698 K), at a hydrogen pressure of 3 MPa in the presence of a mixture of pyrite (FeS) and aluminum oxide (AlO) taken at a ratio of 1:1. Chromatographic analysis of anthracene hydrogenation products showed the presence of 9,10-dihydroanthracene (DHA), 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroanthracene (THA), methylnaphthalene (MN), naphthalene (H) and other unidentified compounds.

This study aimed to investigate amylose-lipid complex (ALC) formation and starch digestibility in cooked rice starches (CRSs) with the addition of 0, 5, and 10 % emulsified formulation (EMF). The addition of EMF did not affect the content of non-starch lipids but tended to increase the content of total lipids and starch lipids. The absorption rate of 995 cm/1022 cm of CRSs increased with the addition of EMF, while that of 1047 cm/1022 cm remained unchanged regardless of the addition of EMF.

In this study, we utilized drinking water treatment sludge (WTS) to produce adsorbents through the drying and calcination process. These adsorbents were then evaluated for their ability to remove azithromycin (AZT) from aqueous solutions. The L-500 adsorbent, derived from the calcination (at 500°C) of WTS generated under conditions of low turbidity in the drinking water treatment plant, presented an increase in the specific surface area from 70.

Context: Based on the transition state theory, a molecular diffusion model in the narrow channels of Brewsterite zeolite was established. In this model, the molecular interaction at the potential barrier was simplified to only consider the repulsive potential, so that the analytical relationship between the diffusion coefficient and the temperature and the Lennard-Jones interaction parameter was derived. We used the molecular dynamics method to simulate the diffusion of four molecules, CF, CH, Ar, and Ne, in Brewsterite zeolite and evaluated the rationality of the model.
