Purpose: To describe the clinical profile of patients with HLA-B27-associated uveitis at 2 Egyptian tertiary eye centers.
Methods: A retrospective study reviewing the medical records of all patients with HLA-B27-associated uveitis served at 2 uveitis referral clinics in Egypt between January 2010 and June 2018.
Results: The study included a total of 554 patients. Anterior uveitis was the most common type. Ankylosing spondylitis was an important systemic comorbidity in the present study, affecting 27.4% of our patients. Cataract was the most frequent ocular complication. By the conclusion of the study, 6.1% of the affected eyes had a BSCVA poorer than 20/200.
Conclusion: The clinical profile of HLA-B27-associated uveitis in our cohort of Egyptian patients is similar to that reported from other regions of the world. In our study, a relatively high rate of cataract was observed.

Background: Multiple myeloma (MM) represents the second most common hematological malignancy characterized by the infiltration of the bone marrow by plasma cells that produce monoclonal immunoglobulin. While the quality and length of life of MM patients have significantly increased, MM remains a hard-to-treat disease; almost all patients relapse. As MM is highly heterogenous, patients relapse at different times.

Background: Adipose tissue plays a critical role in the development of metabolically unhealthy obesity (MUO), with distinct adipose depots demonstrating functional differences. This study aimed to investigate the unique characteristics of subcutaneous (SA) and visceral adipose tissue (VA) in MUO.
Methods: Paired omental VA and abdominal SA samples were obtained from four male patients with MUO and subjected to Four-Dimensional Data Independent Acquisition (4D-DIA) proteomic and lysine acetylation (Kac) analyses.

Recent advances in oncology research have highlighted the promising synergy between low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) and immunotherapies, with growing evidence highlighting the unique benefits of the combination. LDRT has emerged as a potent tool for stimulating the immune system, triggering systemic antitumor effects by remodeling the tumor microenvironment. Notably, LDRT demonstrates remarkable efficacy even in challenging metastatic sites such as the liver (uveal) and brain (cutaneous), particularly in advanced melanoma stages.
