Purpose: To characterise the posterior and total corneal astigmatism using colour point-source light-emitting diodes (LED) topography.
Methods: In a prospective case series 400 eyes from 400 patients were evaluated by colour-LED topography. Only eyes with normal topographies were considered. The following parameters were studied: magnitude and distribution of SimK and posterior corneal astigmatism, correlation between SimK and posterior corneal astigmatism, and differences in magnitude and axis between total and anterior corneal astigmatism.
Results: The mean SimK corneal astigmatism was 1.21 ± 0.94 D. The mean posterior corneal astigmatism was 0.37 ± 0.24 D. Posterior astigmatism was vertically oriented in 68% of eyes. Twenty-two percent of eyes showed a posterior corneal astigmatism ≥ 0.50 D. The correlation coefficients between SimK and posterior corneal astigmatism were: r = 0.066; p = 0.371 in WTR eyes, r = 0.112; p = 0.173 in ATR eyes and r = -0.019; p = 0.879 in oblique eyes. A difference between SimK and total corneal astigmatism ≥ 0.50 D was found in 7% of eyes. A difference in axis between SimK and total corneal astigmatism ≥ 10° was found in 24% of eyes.
Conclusions: The percentage of eyes with posterior corneal astigmatism ≥ 0.50 D and the differences between anterior and total corneal astigmatism were higher than those previously reported in the literature. Therefore, this study supports the consideration of total corneal astigmatism magnitude and axis is mandatory for a precise surgical correction of astigmatism.

In this study, we reported two patients with clinical pictures compatible with the diagnosis of bilateral Fuchs' superficial marginal keratitis (FSMK) treated with surgical treatment and anti-inflammatory drugs. The cases suffered from bilateral photophopia, blurred vision, and pseudopterygium with normal intraocular pressure (IOP). Pseudopterygia extended from temporal and nasal sides and had a gray line between the corneal normal epithelium with no lipid deposits.

Purpose: To evaluate the clinical outcomes of a new FDA approved toric aspheric hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens.
Patients And Methods: This is a single surgeon, single-arm, on-label, non-randomized, prospective observational study. Thirty patients underwent bilateral cataract surgery (60 eyes) with placement of a Clareon™ Toric IOL in each eye.

Introduction: Virtual reality-based simulation is an educational tool that has been proven to increase participants' self-perceived, confidence, and skill. However, the use of VR is associated with virtual reality sickness (VRS). The purpose of this study is to determine related factors of VRS in an emergency setting simulation-based training, hence providing information and mitigation plan to enhance and optimize learning outcomes.

This prospective cohort study is aimed to investigate circadian variations in corneal parameters, focusing on sleep-deprived subjects. Sixty-four healthy individuals (age range: 21-76 years) actively participated in this study, undergoing examinations at least five times within a 24-hour timeframe. The analysis encompassed keratometric parameters of the cornea's front (F) and back (B) surfaces, refractive power in flattest and steepest axes (K1, K2), astigmatism (Astig) and its axis (Axis), aspheric coefficient (Asph), corneal pachymetry values of thinnest corneal thickness (Pachy Min) and corneal thickness in the center of the pupil (Pachy Pupil), volume relative to the 3 and 10 mm corneal diagonal (Vol D3, Vol D10) and surface variance index (ISV).

Objective: To investigate changes in corneal astigmatism (curvatures and corneal sagittal height difference (C-sagDiff) at 8-mm chord) after temporary discontinuation from long-term spherical and toric orthokeratology (ortho-k) lens wear in a Chinese population.
Methods: Relevant data were retrieved from 110 patients (55 wearing spherical ortho-k lenses, 55 wearing toric ortho-k lenses) who have been undergoing ortho-k treatment for at least one year and stopped lens wear temporarily for scheduled lens replacement. The topographic and refraction data at baseline and post-discontinuation was collected for all the patients.
