The role of oestrogen in the recruitment of GMG cell precursors to the uterus has been investigated in radiation-induced chimeric mice reconstituted with rat bone marrow and maintained on a hormone regime simulating pseudopregnancy. The presence of rat GMG cells in the deciduomata in mice irradiated after oestrogen priming suggests that oestrogen priming is not an essential factor in recruiting GMG cell precursors. However, the results have led to the suggestion that in the normal, cycling mouse oestrogen may have a role in attracting GMG cell precursors to the uterus and preparing them for differentiation.

Fortimicins (FTMs) are fortamine-containing aminoglycoside antibiotics (AGAs) produced by M. olivasterospora DSM 43868 with excellent bactericidal activities against a wide range of Enterobacteriaceae and synergistic activity against multidrug-resistant (MDR) pathogens. Fortimicin-A (FTM-A), the most active member of FTMs, has the lowest susceptibility to inactivation by the aminoglycoside modifying enzymes (AMEs).

Development, and evaluation of film forming solutions for transdermal drug delivery of Zaltoprofen.

J Biomater Sci Polym Ed

December 2024

Department of Pharmaceutics, Dr. Prabhakar B Kore Basic Science Research Center, Off-campus, KLE College of Pharmacy (A constituent unit of KAHER-Belagavi), Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.

Zaltoprofen (ZAL) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with a short half-life (∼2.8 h) due to extensive first pass metabolism. In this context, 16 different polymeric film forming solutions (PFFS) of ZAL were developed using different grades of Eudragits, Polyvinylpyrrolidones, Kollicoat MAE 100 P and Hydroxypropyl cellulose as film formers, and polyethylene glycol 400 as a plasticizer in equal parts of ethanol and isopropyl alcohol used as solvents.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of a vancomycin-loaded hydrogel, made from silk fibroin, calcium phosphate, and methylcellulose, in helping preosteoblast cells develop into bone-forming cells.
  • Three different hydrogel formulations were tested, varying in concentrations of silk fibroin and calcium phosphate, with one formulation (VM-HSF/HCaP/MC) showing the best results for cell migration, proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation.
  • The most effective hydrogel formulation not only enhanced key markers of bone formation over time but also suggests potential for use in treating localized bone issues like osteomyelitis.

In this study, three microalgae species were cultivated using dairy and fish wastewater: , and sp. The process involved manipulating various physicochemical conditions, to determine optimal growth parameters. Our evaluation considered cell count, biomass productivity, specific growth rate, pigments, carbohydrates, proteins, lipid compositions, and cellulose stored in microalgae.
