Using a new type of nylon brush (Cytobrush) for sampling of cells, the state of the urethral mucosa was evaluated before and after oestrogen treatment in 10 patients suffering from urinary incontinence. In 4 other patients the results obtained were compared with those using the conventional cotton swab technique. The brush specimens were found to be much more cellular and consequently more informative than those obtained with the conventional technique. The cytologic examination based on brush samples also demonstrated that oestrogen treatment within 3 weeks induced a proliferation of the atrophic urethral mucosa in postmenopausal women suffering from urinary incontinence.

This case report describes Zoon's vulvitis or plasma cell vulvitis (PCV) with coexisting lichen planus (LP) treated with methotrexate. PCV is a rare, chronic, benign idiopathic inflammatory condition of the vulvar mucosa, characterized by a bright-red, chronic lesion of mucosa. Typically, it presents as atrophic, shiny, red plaques that can affect any part of the vulva and can spread symmetrically and bilaterally with the propensity of chronicity and gradual coalescence.

Objective: The current management for complex urethral strictures commonly uses open reconstruction with buccal mucosa urethroplasty. However, there are multiple situations whereby buccal mucosa is inadequate (pan-urethral stricture or prior buccal harvest) or inappropriate for utilization (heavy tobacco use or oral radiation). Multiple options exist for use as alternatives or adjuncts to buccal mucosa in complex urethral strictures (injectable antifibrotic agents, augmentation urethroplasty with skin flaps, lingual mucosa, bladder mucosa, colonic mucosa, and new developments in tissue engineering for urethral graft material) (1, 2).

Aims: The aim of this study was to explore whether continuous infusion causing lubrication can effectively alleviate pain during male urethral catheterization.
Methods: This prospective, multicenter, double-blinded study included 190 male patients scheduled for urethral catheterization. Patients were randomly allocated into four groups: Group A: the catheter was lubricated with paraffin; Group B: the catheter was lubricated with compound lidocaine gel; Group C: the pump continuously infusing with sterilized water; Group D: the pump continuously infusing with 2% lidocaine.

Objective: To evaluate the surgical methods for treating distal urethral stricture.
Methods: The clinical data of 80 patients with distal urethral stricture in Beijing Jishuitan Hospital, Captial Medical University between January 2018 and December 2022 were retrospectively collected. Including male genital lichen sclerosus (MGLS) 33 cases, iatrogenic injury 25 cases, postoperative hypospadias 12 cases, and other causes such as trauma 10 cases.

Introduction: Oral mucosal grafts are essential in reconstructive urology, particularly for urethral and genital defects. Advances in harvesting and implantation techniques have been made, yet perioperative care remains crucial for optimal outcomes. This systematic review explores postoperative care pathways following oral mucosal graft harvesting to consolidate knowledge, identify best practices, and highlight research gaps.
