is a swine (host) specific respiratory pathogen and the etiological agent of swine pleuropneumonia which affects pigs of all ages, many being asymptomatic carriers. This pathogen has high morbidity and mortality rates which generates large economic losses for the pig industry. Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is a widely studied bacterium, however its pathogenesis is not yet fully understood. The prevalence of the 18 serotypes of varies by geographic region, in North American area, more specifically in Mexico, serotypes 1, 3, 5b, and 7 show higher prevalence. is described as a strict extracellular pathogen with tropism for lower respiratory tract. However, this study depicts the ability of these serotypes to adhere to non-phagocytic cells, using an endothelial cell model, as well as their ability to internalize them, proposing it could be considered as an intracellular pathogen.

Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is one of the most harmful pathogens in the swine industry. Our previous studies demonstrated that the small extracellular domain (ECL2) of CLDN4 effectively blocks PRRSV infection. In this study, we explored the in vivo administration of swine ECL2 (sECL2) and found that it blocked HP-PRRSV infection and alleviated histopathological changes in organs.

Triglyceride (TG) metabolism is a complex and highly coordinated biological process regulated by a series of genes, and its dysregulation can lead to the occurrence of disorders in lipid metabolism. However, the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of crucial genes in TG metabolism mediated by enhancer-promoter interactions remain elusive. Here, we identified candidate enhancers regulating the Agpat2, Dgat1, Dgat2, Pnpla2, and Lipe genes in 3T3-L1 adipocytes by integrating epigenomic data (H3K27ac, H3K4me1, and DHS-seq) with chromatin three-dimensional interaction data.

Interactions between gut microbes and host promote degradation of various fiber components in Meishan pigs.

Unlabelled: Although metagenomic investigations into microbial fiber-degrading capabilities are currently prevalent, there is a notable gap in research concerning the regulatory mechanisms underpinning host-microbiota interactions that confer tolerance to high-fiber diets in pigs. In this study, 28 Meishan (MS) and 28 Large White (LW) pigs were subjected to feeding experiments involving various fiber levels. Subsequently, multi-omics was employed to investigate the influence of host-microbiota interactions on the fiber degradation of pigs.

Zoonotic diseases awareness and food safety practices among livestock farmers in Nepal.

Department of Food Hygiene and Environmental Health, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland.

Interactions between humans and livestock could increase the risk of zoonotic disease transmission. In addition, limited knowledge of zoonoses and foodborne diseases among livestock farmers could heighten the risks of foodborne illness and outbreaks of zoonotic diseases. This study evaluated the awareness of zoonotic diseases and preventive practices for zoonotic and foodborne diseases among livestock farmers of the Chitwan, Rupandehi, and Tanahun districts of Nepal by conducting a cross-sectional survey of 280 livestock farmers.

Modeling the effects of thin filament near-neighbor cooperative interactions in mammalian myocardium.

Department of Animal, Veterinary, and Food Sciences, College of Agricultural and Life Sciences, University of Idaho, Moscow, ID, USA.

The mechanisms underlying cooperative activation and inactivation of myocardial force extend from local, near-neighbor interactions involving troponin-tropomyosin regulatory units (RU) and crossbridges (XB) to more global interactions across the sarcomere. To better understand these mechanisms in the hearts of small and large mammals, we undertook a simplified mathematical approach to assess the contribution of three types of near-neighbor cooperative interactions, i.e.
