: Currently, about 65% of the world's population is covered by at least one MPOWER tobacco control policy measure. The impact of such policies might rely on policy compliance. : This study aims to describe and compare global trends in legislation and compliance of the following three tobacco control policies between 2009 and 2019: direct advertisement, promotion and sponsorship, and smoke-free environments. : Data from the six most recent WHO Tobacco Control (2009-2019) reports were used to show the development of and possible associations between legislated policies and policy compliance. Data pertaining to the three indicators direct advertisement, promotion and sponsorship, and smoke-free environments were collected and analysed per country income category, according to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development. For each country, we (i) calculated the legislation describing the situation according to the law as a percentage of fulfilled MPOWER measurements and (ii) present the level of compliance (ranging from 0 to 10) for the corresponding policy. : Both tobacco control policy legislation and compliance for direct advertising improved worldwide - between 2009 and 2019 the median increased from 37.5% to 87.5% for policy and from 5 to 8 for compliance. In contrast, promotion and sponsorship restrictions hardly developed since 2011 and are especially weak among low- and middle-income countries. With respect to smoke-free environments, global policy legislation increased steadily over time while the relative compliance hardly increased. In 2019 data did not show significant correlations between policy legislation and compliance: direct advertising ρ = -0.003, p = 0.970; promotion and sponsorship ρ = 0.140, p = 0.107; smoke-free environments ρ = 0.158, p = 0.070. : There is a clear need to understand the barriers in achieving tobacco control policy compliance and to routinely collect and incorporate data on compliance in research in order to generate a more reliable basis for further improvements in tobacco control.

Background: Few studies have examined how cancer incidence varies by country of origin among United States Hispanic/Latino adults. Herein, we describe the incidence rates of cancer overall and for screen-detectable, tobacco-related, and obesity-related cancers among 16,415 participants in the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos (HCHS/SOL), an ongoing population-based cohort study of Hispanic/Latino adults from diverse backgrounds.
Methods: Cohort participant records were linked to the state cancer registries in New York, Florida, California, and Illinois to ascertain cancer incidence from baseline (2008-2011) through 2021.

Objective And Rationale: This study assessed support for novel tobacco compared with alcohol control policies among adults in Great Britain in 2021-2023. Objectives were to assess 1) overall level of support for tobacco compared to alcohol control policies; 2) level of support for tobacco compared to alcohol control policies among people who smoke tobacco or who consume alcohol at increasing and higher risk levels, or who do both; 3) level of support for tobacco compared to alcohol control policies among different sociodemographic groups?
Methods: Data were collected in September/October 2021-2023 in a monthly population-based survey on smoking and drinking behaviour of adults across Great Britain (N = 6311), weighted to match the overall population. Outcome measure was level of support for each seven tobacco and alcohol control policies.

Purpose: In the setting of an established childhood pneumococcal vaccination programme with immediate initiation and treatment of antiretroviral therapy (ART) for people living with HIV (PLWH), the risk of adult pneumococcal community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is not recently described. Introduction: Tobacco smoking has been associated with reduced success in the labor market, potentially due to its negative impact on labor productivity, especially in physically demanding jobs, as it affects physical fitness and performance adversely.
Methods: This prospective study used data from the Cardiovascular Risk in Young Finns Study survey, linked to register information on labor market outcomes and education attainment, to examine the association between tobacco smoking and long-term labor market outcomes (earnings and employment, N = 1953). Smoking levels were determined by cigarette pack-years in 2001, as reported in the survey, whereas annual earnings and employment status were tracked from 2001 to 2019.
