We present a multiscale characterization of aqueous solutions of the bovine eye lens protein β crystallin from dilute conditions up to dynamical arrest, combining dynamic light scattering, small-angle x-ray scattering, tracer-based microrheology, and neutron spin echo spectroscopy. We obtain a comprehensive explanation of the observed experimental signatures from a model of polydisperse hard spheres with additional weak attraction. In particular, the model predictions quantitatively describe the multiscale dynamical results from microscopic nanometer cage diffusion over mesoscopic micrometer gradient diffusion up to macroscopic viscosity. Based on a comparative discussion with results from other crystallin proteins, we suggest an interesting common pathway for dynamical arrest in all crystallin proteins, with potential implications for the understanding of crowding effects in the eye lens.

Purpose: Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) has emerged as a novel approach in corneal transplantation over the past two decades. This study aims to identify predisposing risk factors for post-DMEK ocular hypertension (OHT) and develop a preoperative predictive model for post-DMEK OHT.
Methods: Patients who underwent DMEK at Gangnam Severance Hospital between 2017 and 2024 were included in the study.

Anterior segment dysgenesis exerts its influence on a diverse array of ocular structures, encompassing the cornea, iris, ciliary body, anterior chamber and lens. We present a 20-month-old boy with bilateral corneal opacity. The visual acuity (VA) was 6/480 in both eyes.

Purpose: Among patients with angle-closure glaucoma, it is common to have a short-axial eye, which also makes it difficult to select an appropriate intraocular lens. Previous studies have focused on the ocular biometry of the long-axial eye, whereas only a few reports have focused on the short-axial eye. This study aimed to clarify the characteristics of the short-axial eye on ocular biometry among the elderly Japanese.

Purpose: To evaluate visual outcomes and quality of vision following bilateral implantation of a hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) in eyes targeted for emmetropia.
Methods: This was a prospective, single arm study. Subjects were bilaterally implanted with the Clareon PanOptix IOL and evaluated at 1 and 3 months postoperatively.
