A series of inorganic AlCl-alkali metal thiocyanate (ASCN: A = Li, Na, K) ionic liquids (ILs) are demonstrated as electrolytes for Al electrodeposition and Al-anion rechargeable batteries (AARBs) at 303-363 K. Al deposits with a unique flake nanostructure are obtained in these electrolytes. The assembled AARBs show a stable cyclability over 250 cycles with a reversible capacity of ca. 70 mA h (g-graphite) at 363 K. These inorganic ILs inherit the advantages of conventional chloroaluminate ILs (applicability at near-ambient temperature) and molten salts (cost effectiveness), making them promising electrolyte candidates for industrializable electrochemical Al technologies.

Organic-inorganic hybrid ferroelectric compounds of the halobismuthate family have emerged as a focal point of research owing to their reduced toxicity and distinctive optical characteristics. This study presents a novel ammonium hybrid perovskite, [BPMBDMA]·[Bi2Br9], which exhibits both ferro- and piezoelectric properties and crystallizes in the polar noncentrosymmetric 2 space group. The nonlinear optical (NLO) activity of [BPMBDMA]·[Bi2Br9] was corroborated through second harmonic generation measurements evidencing its noncentrosymmetric structure, which was further substantiated by piezoresponse force microscopy analyses.

Metal halide perovskites and their derivatives are gaining significant attention as photoluminescent materials due to their exceptional light-emitting properties. However, most research has concentrated on electroluminescence and photoluminescence, there remains a substantial gap in the exploration of mechanoluminescence (ML) properties in perovskites, making this field largely uncharted. ML is an ancient and intriguing luminescent phenomenon that occurs when a material is subjected to mechanical forces.

Carbon-based perovskite solar cells (C-PSCs) have the advantages of high stability and low cost, but their mean efficiency has become an obstacle to commercialization. Defects, which are widely distributed on the surface and bulk of films, are an important factor in C-PSCs for low efficiency. The conventional post-treatment method through forming a low-dimensional (LD) perovskite layer usually fails in manipulating the bulk defects.

Organelles are specialized subunits within cells which carry out vital functions crucial to cellular survival and form a tightly regulated network. Dysfunctions in any of these organelles are linked to numerous diseases impacting virtually every organ system in the human body. Targeted delivery of therapeutics to specific organelles within the cell holds great promise for overcoming challenging diseases and improving treatment outcomes through the minimization of therapeutic dosage and off-target effects.

Implanted biomaterials release inorganic ions that trigger inflammatory responses, which recruit immune cells whose biochemical signals affect bone tissue regeneration. In this study, we evaluated how mouse macrophages (RAW264, RAW) and mesenchymal stem cells (KUSA-A1, MSCs) respond to seven types of ions (silicon, calcium, magnesium, zinc, strontium, copper, and cobalt) that reportedly stimulate cells related to bone formation. The collagen synthesis, alkaline phosphatase activity, and osteocalcin production of the MSCs varied by ion dose and type after culture in the secretome of RAW cells.
