The angle of anti-Stokes conical emission (CE) is experimentally measured in the frequency shift span of 2000 to 9000. The experiment was performed using a 800 nm 50 fs laser pump in samples of BK-7 glass and calcite in both the O and E-wave configurations. The experimental results of angular emission are then compared to three competing models: the Alfano-Shapiro four wave mixing (FWM) model from 1970, the Luther FWM model from 1994, and the Faccio X-wave model from 2004. Results indicate that in all samples and configurations tested, the original FWM has the best agreement with experimental results in the anti-Stokes span.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFFor the first time, to the best of our knowledge, stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) of picosecond laser pulses without optical breakdown has been detected simultaneously (as the first Stokes and anti-Stokes paired components) at ∼3430 and ∼3000 vibrations of water OH band. These components were generated coaxially to the pump beam in the forward direction as axial and conical ring beams, respectively, when the pump beam was focused at the water-air interface. We suggest an explanation of these new SRS phenomena by non-collinear four-wave parametric interaction.

We present the time-frame calculated photoabsorption spectrum (ABS), spontaneous Raman excitation profile (REP), femtosecond stimulated Raman spectroscopy (FSRS) spectrum, and femtosecond stimulated Raman excitation profile (FSREP) results of a two-mode and three-mode, three-electronic-states model Hamiltonians containing conical intersections (CIs) along its two upper diabatic electronic states, e1 (dark) and e2 (bright), with and without coupling (nonadiabatic dynamics) along an asymmetric mode. For every electronic state in each model, there is one coupling mode and the rest of the modes are symmetric tuning modes. The CI appears in the Hamiltonian as off-diagonal entries to the potential term that couple the two upper states, in the form of a linear function of the coupling mode.
