An energy band gap measurement method based on nano-beam STEM with small off-axis angle valence band transmission electron energy loss spectroscopy (TEELS) is reported. The effect of multiple scattering event is removed by self-convolution method to obtain a single scattering loss function and a dielectric function is calculated from the single scattering valence band energy loss function through Kramers-Kronig (K-K) analysis. Optical band gaps are extracted from energy loss spectra and the imaginary part of the dielectric functions for crystalline and amorphous SiO, SiN, and SiON through linear fitting of on-set regions yielding results that are independent of sample thickness. The TEELS band gap data are consistent with those obtained from reflection electron energy loss spectroscopy (REELS) measurements.

Two-dimensional (2D) hybrid materials, particularly those based on boron nitride (BN) and graphene oxide (GO), have attracted significant attention for energy applications owing to their distinct structural and electronic properties. BN/GO composites uniquely combine the mechanical strength, thermal stability and electrical insulation of BN with the high conductivity and flexibility of GO, creating advanced materials ideal for the fabrication of batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells. These hybrids offer synergistic effects, enhanced charge transport, increased surface area, and improved chemical stability, making them promising candidates for high-performance energy systems.

Objectives: Assessment of age, sex and smoking-specific risk of cancer diagnosis and non-cancer mortality following primary care consultation for 15 new-onset symptoms.
Methods And Analysis: Data on patients aged 30-99 in 2007-2017 were extracted from a UK primary care database (CPRD Gold), comprising a randomly selected reference group and a symptomatic cohort of patients presenting with one of 15 new onset symptoms (abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, rectal bleed, change in bowel habit, dyspepsia, dysphagia, dyspnoea, haemoptysis, haematuria, fatigue, night sweats, weight loss, jaundice, breast lump and post-menopausal bleed).Time-to-event models were used to estimate outcome-specific hazards for site-specific cancer diagnosis and non-cancer mortality and to estimate cumulative incidence up to 12 months following index consultation.

Objective: The arginase inhibitor INCB001158 was evaluated for safety (primary endpoint) in locally advanced or metastatic solid tumours; pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and efficacy were also assessed.
Methods And Analysis: In this non-randomised, open-label, three-part phase 1 study, INCB001158 was orally administered two times per day as monotherapy or in combination with intravenous pembrolizumab 200 mg every 3 weeks. Dose expansion was conducted in tumour-type cohorts (with or without prior anti-PD-1/PD-L1 (programmed death protein 1/programmed death ligand 1) therapy).
