The impact of laser fluence and pulse duration on both the rate and probability of growth of laser-induced damage sites has been reported and analyzed statistically in a companion paper. In this paper, we report and analyze the volume morphology of damage sites during the growth process in fused silica optical components, at 351 nm, under various laser fluence and pulse durations. Fractal analysis has been used to quantify the bulk damage morphology. A clear link between the damage morphology and laser pulse duration has been observed. The results from fractal analysis allows for a better understanding of the results from the stochastic approach developed in our companion paper. More specifically, fractal analysis shows how the laser parameters such as fluence and pulse duration impact the phenomenology and the dynamics of the growth process.

This study investigates the mixing effects on the enzymatic hydrolysis of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) and dilute-acid pretreated corncob substrates under high-solid conditions. Enzymatic hydrolysis experiments were conducted to assess cellulose conversion rates under varying mixing conditions (0, 50, 150, and 250 rpm) and solids loadings (5 %, 15 %, 25 %, and 35 %, w/v), and distinct physicochemical properties of the substrates were characterized. Additionally, the role of mixing conditions and solid loadings on cellulose hydrolysis kinetics and enzyme adsorption on both substrates and lignin were elucidated.

Purpose: Periarticular and generalized osteoporosis are well-known comorbidities of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), associated with either the disease itself or glucocorticoid therapy. This study was performed to quantitatively evaluate changes in the jawbones of patients with RA using fractal analysis (FA).
Materials And Methods: The study comprised 186 participants, including 144 women and 42 men.

In medical image analysis, the utilization of biophysical models for signal analysis offers valuable insights into the underlying tissue types and microstructural processes. In diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (DWI), a major challenge lies in accurately estimating model parameters from the acquired data due to the inherently low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the signal measurements and the complexity of solving the ill-posed inverse problem. Conventional model fitting approaches treat individual voxels as independent.

The mechanical behavior and fracture mechanisms of deep fractured rocks under explosive dynamic loads are critical for understanding rock instability in engineering applications such as blasting operations. This study aims to investigate how the presence of pre-existing cracks and different stress states affect the mechanical properties and fracture patterns of rock-like specimens under dynamic loading conditions. We utilized a Split Hopkinson Pressure Bar (SHPB) with an active confining pressure loading device to conduct impact compression tests on rock-like specimens containing pre-existing cracks.
