The first verification of a tool developed to improve the work of controlling bodies, managers and employees of underground facilities subject to radiation protection requirements was conducted. The recommended values of correction factors were verified using archival results of measurements conducted for the Institute of Occupational Medicine in Łódź in seven underground workplaces in Poland over exposure periods of a month (10,8678 data) and a quarter of a year (53,688 data). In a cave two groups of monthly factors, produced estimates with almost 70% to 99% consistency with the measured values.

Purpose: Individual dosimetry is undoubtedly one of the best methods of assessing the exposure of personnel to ionizing radiation, however in case of nuclear medicine, the method applied to measure the dose does not always present a picture of the worker's actual exposure. The highly non-homogeneous dose distribution on the hand means that the ring dosimeter, routinely used to measure the Hp(0.07), provides only approximate dose values received by fingertips, the body part most exposed to ionizing radiation.

Uniwersytet Łódzki / University of Lodz, Łódź, Poland (Wydział Fizyki i Informatyki Stosowanej, Katedra Fizyki Jądrowej i Bezpieczeństwa Radiacyjnego / Faculty of Physics and Applied Informatics, Department of Nuclear Physics and Radiation Safety).

Background: The use of X-ray in dental procedures causes exposure of the patient to ionizing radiation. This exposure depends primarily on the parameters used in tooth examination. The aim of the study was to determine the patients exposure and to assess the technical condition of X-ray tubes.
