The risk of believing that emotions are bad and uncontrollable: association with orthorexia nervosa.

Eat Weight Disord

January 2025

Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Psychology, Bournemouth University, Poole, UK.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore emotional functioning in individuals with varying levels of orthorexia nervosa (ON) symptoms. Given the established links between emotion dysregulation and other eating disorders (EDs), and the conceptualization of ON within the ED spectrum, this research sought to examine the relationships between ON symptomatology and emotion regulation strategies, alexithymia, and beliefs about emotions.

Methods: A large sample (N = 562) completed self-report measures with high psychometric properties, assessing ON traits (E-DOS), emotion regulation strategies (DERS-SF and ERQ), alexithymia (TAS-20), and beliefs about emotions (ERQ).

Microprofiling real time nitric oxide flux for field studies using a stratified nanohybrid carbon-metal electrode.

Anal Methods

November 2017

Agricultural and Biological Engineering Department, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, USA.

Nitric oxide (NO) is an important signaling molecule that is involved in stress response, homeostasis, host defense, and cell development. In most cells, NO levels are in the femtomolar to micromolar range, with extracellular concentrations being much lower. Thus, real time measurement of spatiotemporal NO dynamics near the surface of living cells/tissues is a major challenge.

>6°(C) of separation: Exploring the difference between perceived and measured temperature.

Questionnaires exploring tourists' perceptions of ideal climatic conditions are argued to be a more suitable data source for the development of tourism climate indices than the utilization and integration of expert opinion and pre-established thresholds. This assumes that those tourist respondents can accurately quantify meteorological conditions at a given point in time, and effectively discriminate between meteorological thresholds of suitable and unsuitable conditions. For variables such as rainfall and sunshine hours, this assumption is fairly reasonable.

Electronic address:

Introduction: Detecting Freezing of Gait (FOG) poses challenges, with the subjective 6-item FOG Questionnaire relying solely on patient perception. We aim to create a holistic FOG Detection Toolkit combining subjective and objective elements (descriptions, images, and videos) to improve FOG detection precision.

Methods: Development of the FOG Detection Toolkit involved a detailed cover sheet on FOG and its triggers, along with video exemplars and a 4-item FOG-specific self-assessment questionnaire, all rigorously validated.
