Background And Objective: Bladder cancer (BC) represents a significant health care challenge and is frequently detected during evaluations for haematuria in emergency departments (EDs). Our aim was to evaluate the clinical performance and economic implications of the Xpert BC Detection (BCD) test for patients presenting to the ED with haematuria to address the pressing need for more efficient and accurate diagnostic tools in this setting.
Methods: We conducted a prospective single-centre observational study in the ED of a tertiary university hospital.

Background: This study aimed to explore the accuracy of third-generation nanopore sequencing to diagnose extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB).
Methods: Samples were collected from the lesions of 67 patients with suspected EPTB admitted between April 2022 and August 2023. Nanopore sequencing, acid-fast bacilli (AFB) staining, DNA testing, and X-pert and mycobacterial cultures were performed.

Objectives: Early detection of treatment failure is essential to improve the management of drug-resistant tuberculosis (DR-TB). We evaluated the molecular bacterial load assay (MBLA) in comparison to standard diagnostic tests for monitoring therapy of patients affected by drug-resistant TB.
Methods: The performance of MBLA in tracking treatment response in a prospective cohort of patients with pulmonary MDR/RR- and pre-XDR/XDR-TB was compared with mycobacterial culture, mycobacterial DNA detection using GeneXpert (Xpert) and microscopy detection of sputum acid-fast-bacilli.

Background: World Health Organization (WHO) tuberculosis (TB) screening guidelines recommend computer-aided detection (CAD) software for chest radiograph (CXR) interpretation. However, studies evaluating their diagnostic and prognostic accuracy are limited.
Methods: We conducted a prospective cohort study of household contacts of rifampicin-resistant TB in South Africa.

Background: Molecular tests have contributed to reducing the mortality rate through early and accurate diagnosis of tuberculosis (TB). This is due to their low processing complexity and diagnostic accuracy superior to conventional methods.
Objective: To evaluate the diagnostic performance of Cobas MTB and Logix Smart MTB compared to Xpert MTB/RIF Ultra for pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB) and extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB).
