Industrialization has resulted in the rapid increase of volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, which have caused serious issues to human health and the environment. In this study, an extensive Cu incorporating TiO induced nucleophilic oxygen structure was constructed in the CuTiO catalyst, which exhibited superior low-temperature catalytic activity for CH combustion. Thorough structural, surface characterization and density functional theory (DFT) calculations revealed that the Cu-O-Ti hybridization induced nucleophilic oxygen initiates CH combustion by abstracting the C-H bond. In situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) results indicated that incorporated copper species acted as the major adsorbent site for the propene molecule. In combination of the DRIFTS and DFT results, the promotion effect of the nucleophilic O on the C-H bond abstraction and CO formation pathway was proposed. The surface doping induced nucleophilic oxygen as strong Brønsted basic sites for low-temperature propene combustion exemplified an efficient strategy for rational design of next-generation environmental catalysts.

Many protein bioconjugation strategies focus on the modification of lysine residues owing to the nucleophilicity of their amine side-chain, the generally high abundance of lysine residues on a protein's surface and the ability to form robustly stable amide-based bioconjugates. However, the plethora of solvent accessible lysine residues, which often have similar reactivity, is a key inherent issue when searching for regioselectivity and/or controlled loading of an entity. A relevant example is the modification of antibodies and/or antibody fragments, whose conjugates offer potential for a wide variety of applications.

This study investigates the potential of boron trifluoride etherate (BF·OEt) to trigger unprecedented reactions of 2-oxoaldehydes with nitriles and amides/sulphonamides. In contrast to the mechanism in conventional reactions, the α-carbonyl group in 2-oxoaldehydes induces a cyclization pathway to be followed when reacting with nitriles, yielding 4-amidooxazoles. Additionally, reactions with weak nucleophiles produce β-keto amides/sulphonamides.

The main goal of the current study is to estimate the in vivo anti-inflammatory/antioxidant ability of four selected pharmaceutical compounds: bisoprolol (Biso), piracetam (Pirc), clopidogrel (Clop), and cinnarizine (Cinna). Indomethacin (Indo) was used as a reference drug to perform a realistic comparison between the four compounds and the Indo in vivo through tracking PI3K/AKT signaling and computational chemistry via density functional theory (DFT) modeling to analyze the electrostatic potential across the molecule and provide insight into the regions for receptor binding of the studied compounds. To achieve the safe dose of these compounds, cytotoxicity was performed against isolated adipose tissue-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADMSCs) using MTT assay.

In this work, a multicomponent polymerization (MCP) approach involving bipyrroles, sulfonyl azides, and diynes was developed to afford a library of poly(bipyrrole-sulfonylimide)s (PPSIs) in high yields and molecular weights, which were further modified to form unique sulfur dioxide (SO2) generators. Bipyrroles served as carbon-based nucleophiles to undergo Cu-catalyzed C-C coupling during the MCP. Upon post-MCP modification by transforming the bipyrrole unit to boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and the sulfonylimide moiety to sulfonamide, poly(BODIPY-sulfonamide)s (PBSAs) were obtained as potent anticancer therapeutic agents.

In this study, CO reacted with a curing agent through nucleophilic addition to form ammonium salts, enabling the stable capture and internal release of CO, which achieved gas-phase nucleation and foaming. Additionally, the introduction of wave-absorbing agents improved the absorption mechanism and promoted uniform foaming. This nucleation-free foaming process relies on the induced growth of gas nuclei and the synergistic effect of the wave-absorbing agents, effectively preventing the uneven foaming issues caused by traditional nucleating agents.
