causes blown-pack spoilage of vacuum-packed meat. Here, we report the draft genome sequences of strains CM002 and CM003, isolated from unspoiled chilled vacuum-packed lamb. The genome sequences of CM002 and CM003 comprise 2,950,326 and 2,870,995 bp, respectively, and each have a GC content of 30.1%.

Department of Health Technology and Informatics, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hong Kong, PR China.

A clinical isolate, R131, was isolated from the peritoneal swab of a patient who suffered from ruptured appendicitis with abscess and gangrene in Hong Kong in 2018. Cells are facultatively anaerobic, non-motile, Gram-positive coccobacilli. Colonies were small, grey, semi-translucent, low convex and alpha-haemolytic.

Single-cell and spatial transcriptomics illuminate bat immunity and barrier tissue evolution.

Shmunis School of Biomedicine and Cancer Research, George S Wise Faculty of Life Sciences, Tel Aviv University, Tel Aviv 69978, Israel.

Bats have adapted to pathogens through diverse mechanisms, including increased resistance - rapid pathogen elimination, and tolerance - limiting tissue damage following infection. In the Egyptian fruit bat (an important model in comparative immunology) several mechanisms conferring disease tolerance were discovered, but mechanisms underpinning resistance remain poorly understood. Previous studies on other species suggested that elevated basal expression of innate immune genes may lead to increased resistance to infection.

Objective: Osteoarthritis (OA) represents a condition under the influence of central nervous system (CNS) regulatory mechanisms. This investigation aims to examine the causal association between viral infections of the central nervous system (VICNS) and inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system (IDCNS) and knee osteoarthritis (KOA) at the genetic level.

Methods: In this investigation, VICNS and IDCNS were considered as primary exposure variables, while KOA served as the primary outcome.

Complementary Strategies to Identify Differentially Expressed Genes in the Choroid Plexus of Patients with Progressive Multiple Sclerosis.

Neuroinformatics

January 2025

Laboratory for Applied Genomics and Bioinnovations, Instituto Oswaldo Cruz - Fiocruz, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a neurological disease causing myelin and axon damage through inflammatory and autoimmune processes. Despite affecting millions worldwide, understanding its genetic pathways remains limited. The choroid plexus (ChP) has been studied in neurodegenerative processes and diseases like MS due to its dysregulation, yet its role in MS pathophysiology remains unclear.
