Objective: The aim: The purpose of the study was to determine the correspondence between the location of the tongue median line and the degree of distortion of the vertebral column at different levels in children with scoliosis.
Patients And Methods: Materials and methods: Totally 56 children (30 girls, 26 boys) aged 11-14 years were examined, with a duration of musculoskeletal disorders 1-3 years. For each participant an oral cavity examination was performed, the position of the middle line of the tongue was determined. X-ray images of vertebral column of the patients from investigated groups were analyzed.
Results: Results: In the group with 1year duration of the disease 25.02% patients had a violation of the medial line of the tongue, in the group with 2 years of duration of the disease - 65,52% participants had the deviation of the medial line of the tongue, in the group with 3 years of duration of the disease 86.66% of patients had the deviation of the medial line of the tongue.
Conclusion: Conclusions: This research allows us to recommend paying attention not only to the size, color, state of the papillae of the tongue, but also to the position of the middle line, which distortion may significate the deviation of the vertebral column in different portions.

The bioluminescent European brittle star Amphiura filiformis produces blue light at the arm-spine level thanks to a biochemical reaction involving coelenterazine as substrate and a Renilla-like luciferase as an enzyme. This echinoderm light production depends on a trophic acquisition of the coelenterazine substrate. Without an exogenous supply of coelenterazine, this species loses its luminous capabilities.

The DNA cross-link repair 1B (DCLRE1B) gene is involved in repairing cross-links between DNA strands, including those associated with Hoyeraal-Hreidarsson syndrome and congenital dyskeratosis. However, its role in tumours is not well understood. DCLRE1B expression profiles were examined in tumour tissues and normal tissues using TCGA, GTEx, and TARGET datasets.

Vertebral collapse (VC) following osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (OVCF) often requires aggressive treatment, necessitating an accurate prediction for early intervention. This study aimed to develop a predictive model leveraging deep neural networks to predict VC progression after OVCF using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and clinical data. Among 245 enrolled patients with acute OVCF, data from 200 patients were used for the development dataset, and data from 45 patients were used for the test dataset.

Skeleton editing for heteroarenes, especially pyrazoles, is challenging and remains scarce because these non-strained aromatics exhibit inert reactivities, making them relatively inactive for performing a dearomatization/cleavage sequence. Here, we disclose a cycloaddition-induced scaffold hopping of 5-hydroxypyrazoles to access the pyrazolopyridopyridazin-6-one skeleton through a single-operation protocol. By converting a five-membered aza-arene into a five-unit spine of a 6/6 fused-bicyclic, this work unlocks a ring-opening reactivity of the pyrazole core that involves a formal C = N bond cleavage while retaining the highly reactive N-N bond in the resulting product.

Epidural fibrosis post laminectomy is the leading cause of failed back surgery syndrome. Little is known about the role and mechanisms of adipose tissues in epidural fibrosis. Here, we found that obese patients were more likely to develop epidural fibrosis after spine surgery.
