Introduction: The identification of asymptomatic patients at high risk of internal carotid artery (ICA) stenosis destabilization and symptom occurrence is crucial for prognosis estimation.
Objectives: This study aimed to determine differences between patients with symptomatic and asymptomatic ICA stenosis and to develop a predictive model for the risk of symptomatic stenosis based on data collected in routine clinical practice.
Patients And Methods: The study included 163 patients with asymptomatic and 182 patients with symptomatic ICA stenosis greater than 70%. The study groups were compared in terms of stroke risk factors and comorbidities, coexisting ICA stenosis on the contralateral side, atherosclerosis in other arterial territories, and the morphology of atherosclerotic plaque assessed by transcervical ultrasound.
Results: Independent risk factors for symptomatic ICA stenosis included: male sex (odds ratio [OR], 2.94; 95% CI, 1.87-4.32; P <0.001), diabetes (OR, 2.86; 95% CI, 1.62-5.12; P <0.001), body mass index >25 kg/m2 (OR, 1.81; 95% CI, 1.72-1.86; P <0.001), chronic kidney disease (OR, 3.34; 95% CI, 1.34-8.87; P = 0.007), increased‑risk features of ultrasound plaque morphology (OR, 2.52; 95% CI, 1.29-3.72; P = 0.009), and coexisting atherosclerosis in 3 or 4 vascular areas (OR, 3.72; 95% CI, 1.77-7.23; P <0.001).The sensitivity and specificity of the scoring model designed to estimate the risk of symptomatic ICA stenosis reached 77.6% and 76.9%, respectively.
Conclusions: This cross‑sectional study indicated that the analysis of selected imaging and clinical parameters may enable clinicians to estimate the risk of symptomatic ICA stenosis. The proposed scoring system requires further prospective validation.

: As an endocrine organ, adipose tissue produces adipokines that influence coronary artery disease (CAD). The objective of this study was to assess the potential value of CTRP5 and chemerin in differentiating coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA)-confirmed coronary artery disease (CAD) versus non-CAD. Secondarily, within the CCTA-confirmed CAD group, the aim was to investigate the relationship between the severity and extent of CAD, as determined by coronary artery calcium score (CACS), and the levels of CTRP5 and chemerin.

Objective: To examine the role of noninvasive testing (NIT) before invasive coronary angiography (ICA) by evaluating the association between a positive myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) or computed tomography angiography (CTA) result and the decision to perform coronary revascularization.
Patients And Methods: We screened all patients who received ICA between August 1, 2015, and July 31, 2019, and identified those who received MPI or CTA within the preceding 12 months. We considered MPI to be a positive result if it found moderate or severe ischemia in a specific coronary territory and CTA to be a positive result if it identified a stenosis greater than 50% in any major coronary artery.

Background: Discrepancies often exist between patient-reported symptoms and diagnostic test findings in patients with suspected obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD).
Objectives: To quantify the association between patient-reported symptoms and the diagnosis of severe stenosis in patients with suspected obstructive CAD.
Methods: Two large-scale cohorts of patients with new-onset symptoms suggestive of obstructive CAD were evaluated.
Aberrant anatomical variation of the vertebral artery (VA) from an internal carotid artery (ICA) is considered a rare finding. The incidence of this phenomenon can lead to patients suffering from posterior circulation neurological deficit if the ICA becomes significantly diseased. VA atypical anatomical origin is considered one of the rare pathologies, not only precipitating neurovascular incidents but equally leading to severe difficulty in VA dissection and surgical exposure, especially in carotid artery procedures.

Objective: To develop a machine learning-based model for predicting the clinical efficacy of acupuncture intervention in patients with upper limb dysfunction following ischemic stroke, and to assess its potential role in guiding clinical practice.
Methods: Data from 1,375 ischemic stroke patients with upper limb dysfunction were collected from two hospitals, including medical records and Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) reports. All patients received standardized acupuncture treatment.
