Chryseobacterium indologenes is a rare human pathogen which is nowadays considered an emerging fearsome organism because of its upcoming antibiotic resistance. Catatonia is a highly morbid psychomotor and affective disorder, which can affect autistic individuals with and without intellectual disability. Catatonic symptoms are treatable with pharmacotherapy and electroconvulsive therapy, but the longitudinal effectiveness of these treatments in autistic individuals has not been described. We conducted a prospective observational cohort study of patients with autism and co-morbid catatonia who received outpatient care in a specialized outpatient clinic from July 1, 2021 to May 31, 2024.

: This study is an attempt to reveal the potential of two types of interpenetrating polymer network (IPN) hydrogels based on poly(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) (PHEMA) and poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide) (PDMAM). These IPNs were evaluated for their potential for dermal delivery of the hydrophobic drug dexamethasone (DEX). : The two types of IPNs were analyzed for their rheological behavior, swelling characteristics, and drug-loading capacity with DEX.

Objective: To study the behavioural factors associated with sustained cigarette smoking cessation, and those associated with a current smoker attempting to quit, among current and former cigarette smokers living in low-income South African communities.
Setting: Three low-income areas in South Africa.
Design: In-person surveys with structured questions that asked respondents about their cigarette smoking and quitting behaviour, sociodemographic information and behavioural attributes.
Nebulization of 2% lidocaine has no detectable impact on the healthy equine respiratory microbiota.

Glucocorticosteroids remain the most common pharmaceutical approach for the treatment of equine asthma but can be associated with significant side effects, including respiratory microbiome alterations. The goal of the study was to assess the impact of 2% lidocaine nebulization, a projected alternative treatment of equine asthma, on the healthy equine respiratory microbiota. A prospective, randomized, controlled, blinded, 2-way crossover study was performed, to assess the effect of 1 mg/kg 2% lidocaine (7 treatments over 4 days) on the equine respiratory microbiota compared to control horses (saline and no treatment).
