tool is needed to predict how wound following below-knee amputation (BKA) surgery will heal in patient with peripheral artery disease (PAD). Ultrasonography is an alternative to evaluate the condition of the arteries. We conducted a study to investigate the association between doppler ultrasonography as pre-amputation assessment with primary wound healing following BKA surgery. A case-control study was conducted to investigate the effectiveness of ultrasonography as a predictor of the wound healing. Bivariate and multivariate analysis were performed to explore association between ultrasonography indicators including peak systolic velocity, volume flow, arterial diameter, and distal artery spectral waveform with wound healing following BKA. Ultrasonography assessments were conducted on the popliteal artery, anterior tibial artery, and posterior tibial artery. Based on the multivariate analysis on all arteries, there were statistically significant associations of peak systolic velocity (adjusted odd ratio [OR]= 5.584, 95% confidence interval [CI]= 1.291 24.157, p= 0.021), volume flow (adjusted OR= 4.760, 95% CI= 1.200 18.876, p= 0.026), and arterial diameter (adjusted OR= 6.507, 95% CI= 1.510 - 28.033, p= 0.012) with wound healing after BKA. Doppler ultrasonography of PAD can be used as a predictive pre-amputation testing modality to predict wound healing after BKA.

Purpose: To evaluate the effect of the topical application of the ethanol extract (EESL) and the hydroethanolic fraction (HFSL) of ripe Solanum lycocarpum fruit on the healing of experimentally-induced wounds in mice.
Methods: The EESL and HFSL obtained from ripe fruit of the species S. lycocarpum were obtained by percolation with ethanol.

Aim: To evaluate the clinical effectiveness of ozonated sunflower oil (Oz) as an adjunctive of non-surgical periodontal therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2), on fibroblast cell viability and migration and the effectiveness of Oz on a Candida albicans (C. albicans) culture.
Methodology: In total, 32 sites in 16 DM2 with moderate to advanced periodontal disease with periodontal pocket depths ≥5mm were selected.

Chronic wounds have emerged as a tough clinical challenge. An improved understanding of wound healing mechanisms is paramount. Collagen XVII (COL17), a pivotal constituent of hemidesmosomes, holds considerable promise for regulating epidermal cell adhesion to the basement membrane, as well as for epidermal cell motility and self-renewal of epidermal stem cells.

Owing to the high invasion depth and easy formation of biofilms, the treatment of subcutaneous fungal infection is intractable and challenging. Herein, we report an injectable and biodegradable hydrogel with bactericidal, quorum sensing inhibition and antioxidant activities for the in situ treatment of subcutaneous fungal infection. The hydrogel (BEPE) was constructed by irradiating mixed bovine serum albumin (BSA), ε-polylysine and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG)-loaded mesoporous polydopamine (PDA) under near-infrared (NIR) light.

With the continuous development of Terahertz technology and its high sensitivity to water, Terahertz technology has been widely applied in various research areas within the field of biomedicine, such as research onskin wounds and burns, demonstrating numerous advantages and potential. The aim of this study is to summarize and conclude the current research status of Terahertz radiation in skin wounds, burns, and melanoma. Additionally, it seeks toreveal the development status of Terahertz in skin wound models and analyze the short comings of Terahertz in detecting such models at the present stage.
