From the methanolic extract of the rhizomes of , a new flavanone derivative named (2,7″)-8-(1-phenyl-2-carboxyethyl)pinocembrin () and four known flavonoids (-) were isolated. Its absolute configuration was concluded by NMR and MS spectroscopic analysis, together with comparison between experimental and calculated ECD data. In turn, compound exhibited strong cytotoxicity against the PANC-1 human pancreatic cancer cell line with a PC value of 6.4 µM under nutrient-deprived conditions, comparable with that of arctigenin (PC, 0.83 µM).

Green propolis, particularly from the unique flora of the Brazilian Caatinga biome, has gained significant interest due to its diverse chemical composition and biological activities. This study focuses on the chemical characterization and antimicrobial evaluation of Caatinga green propolis. Twelve compounds were isolated through different chromatographic techniques, including flavanones (naringenin, 7--methyleriodictyol, sakuranetin), flavones (hispidulin, cirsimaritin), flavonols (quercetin, quercetin-3-methyl ether, kaempferol, 6-methoxykaempferol, viscosine, penduletin), and one chalcone (kukulkanin B).

Flavonoids derived from plants in the citrus family can have an alleviating effect on allergic asthma. The aim of this study was to provide insights into the mechanisms by which these compounds exert their effects on allergic asthma by combining theoretical and practical approaches. Aurantii Fructus Immaturus flavonoids (AFIFs) were obtained by solvent extraction and were determined by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

The bioaccessibility of flavonoids is of paramount importance in determining their bioavailability and biological effects. Bioaccessibility is influenced by several aspects, comprising the food matrix and the structure of flavonoids. In the present study, the bioaccessibility of different classes of flavonoids (flavanones, flavones, and flavonols) was investigated after in vitro gastro-intestinal digestion of beverages and vegetables.

Depression is a common and complex neuropsychiatric disorder affecting people of all ages worldwide, associated with high rates of relapse and disability. Neohesperidin (NEO) is a dietary flavonoid with applications in therapeutics; however, its effects on depressive-like behavior remain unknown. Here, we evaluated the effects of NEO on depressive-like behavior induced by chronic and unpredictable mild stress (CUMS).

The effect of a citrus-derived flavonoid, hesperetin, on the automaticity and contraction of isolated guinea pig myocardium was examined. Hesperetin inhibited the rate of ectopic action potential firing of the pulmonary vein myocardium; the slope of the diastolic depolarization was decreased with minimum change in the action potential waveform. The effect was dependent on the concentration; the EC value for firing rate was 56.
