With the continued spread of COVID-19 across the world, rapid diagnostic tools, readily available respurposable drugs, and prompt containment measures to control the SARS-CoV-2 infection are of paramount importance. Examples of recent advances in diagnostic tests are CRISPR technology, IgG assay, spike protein detection, and use of artificial intelligence. The gold standard reverse transcription polymerase chain (RT-PCR) has also been upgraded with point-of-care rapid tests. Supportive treatment, mechanical ventilation, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) remain the primary choice, while therapeutic options include antivirals, antiparasitics, anti-inflammatories, interferon, convalescent plasma, monoclonal antibody, hyperimmunoglobulin, RNAi, and mesenchymal stem cell therapy. Different types of vaccines such as RNA, DNA, and lentiviral, inactivated, and viral vector are in clinical trials. Moreover, rapidly deployable and easy-to-transport innovative vaccine delivery systems are also in development. As countries have started easing down on the lockdown measures, the chance for a second wave of infection demands strict and rational control policies to keep fatalities minimized. An improved understanding of the advances in diagnostic tools, treatments, vaccines, and control measures for COVID-19 can provide references for further research and aid better containment strategies.

Information on the nature and the quality of the biomass or biofuel is important in order to support the optimization of their combustion with respect to realizing higher efficiencies and lower emissions during energy production. Aims: Skin disorders occur more frequently with sodium-dependent glucose cotransporter type 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors than with other antidiabetic drugs. We conducted basic research using ipragliflozin, with the aim of identifying new measures to prevent skin disorders caused by SGLT2 inhibitors.
Methods: db/db type 2 diabetes model mice were orally administered ipragliflozin (10 mg/kg or 30 mg/kg) once a day for 28 days and skin function genes were analysed by real-time RT-PCR or Western blotting.

Aims: This study aims to describe pain management technique usage and social functioning limitations among adults with chronic pain by diabetes status.
Methods: The 2019 and 2020 National Health Interview Survey data were pooled to complete this analysis. Use of the following techniques in the past 3 months were measured: 1) prescription opioids; 2) physical, rehabilitative, or occupational therapy; 3) talk therapies; 4) chiropractic care; 5) yoga, Tai Chi, or Qi Gong; 6) massage; and 7) relaxation techniques.

Background: Bone mineral density (BMD) is an indicator of bone health that predicts future bone fractures. The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) is used to assess the severity of symptoms related to pain, stiffness, and function in diseased hip and knee joints. Here we assessed whether BMD measured at specific sites predicts WOMAC scores in healthy individuals whilst controlling for sociodemographic variables.
