In this article, a father and son describe the experience of childhood leukemia treatment and its aftermath with the unique perspective of a parent who is also a pediatric oncologist. An illness that began with an apparently favorable prognosis was transformed by an early relapse, followed by unexpected complications and difficult treatment decisions. Despite unfavorable statistics, the son is a long-term survivor with an overall excellent quality of life, despite several late events and effects. His father, in the meantime, gained insights that now inform his own practice.

This study aimed to examine the impact of CDKN1A rs1801270 and rs1059234 polymorphisms on the risk of childhood acute lymphocytic leukemia (ALL) in Taiwan.

Trends in diagnostic biopsy sample collection approaches for primary bone sarcomas have shifted in the past 2 decades. Although open/incisional biopsies used to be the predominant approach to obtain diagnostic material for Ewing sarcoma and osteosarcoma, image-guided core needle biopsies have increased in frequency and are safe for patients. These procedures are less invasive and reduce recovery times but have potential limitations.
