Advances in Random Fiber Lasers and Their Sensing Application.

Compared with conventional laser, random laser (RL) has no resonant cavity, reducing the requirement of cavity design. In recent years, the random fiber laser (RFL), a novel kind of RL, has made great progress in theories and experiments. The RFL has a simpler structure, a more flexible design, and higher reliability. It has valuable applications for earth sciences, biological life sciences, and national defense security, due to these unique properties. This paper reviews the development of RFLs in the last decade, including their configurations based on various optical fibers and their output properties, especially the method of control. Moreover, we also introduce their applications in the optical fiber sensing system, which is a very important and practical orientation to study. Finally, this paper presents the prospects of RFLs.

This paper proposes a covert chaotic encryption (CCE) scheme based on compressive sensing (CS). The chaotic sequences used are generated by a six-dimensional hyper-chaotic D-system, where the sequence is utilized for a chaotic index sparse block (CISB), the sequence is used for generating the CS measurement matrix effectively, the , , and sequences are employed for variable-parameter iterative Arnold transformations, and the sequence is used for dual-random least significant bit (LSB) scrambling and embedding. The combination of these technologies enabled the scheme to achieve multi-domain, multi-dimensional, ultra-high-security encryption for multimedia image data.

We demonstrate a wide-tunable random fiber laser (RFL) with narrow linewidth and low noise. The tunable RFL is achieved by combining random feedback from a disordered fiber Bragg grating array (FBGA) with a broad scattering wavelength range and the gain from an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) with a broad amplification wavelength range. The disordered FBGA is fabricated using a femtosecond laser direct writing technique by varying the random distances and grating periods.
