In this paper, a novel full vector numerical simulation method based on the finite element method (FEM) and local coupled mode theory (LCMT) for analyzing the mode transmission characteristics of photonic lantern (PL) with arbitrary input mode field is proposed. Compared with the traditional numerical simulation methods for PL, our method can greatly reduce the computational complexity and ensure high precision. Taking a three-core PL as an example, we verify the validity of our method. The advantages and properties of our method are also discussed in detail and found instructive for optimization design of PL. Through specifically optimizing the geometric parameters of the PL according to the properties, mode selectivity of LP and LP can be respectively improved up to 44.5 dB and 54.7 dB with more than 95% coupling efficiency.

This work presents the design of a novel fully canonical triple-mode filter with source-load coupling for 5G applications, exploiting its very compact size for the FR1 band. The design is carried out using circular waveguide technology to attain power handling and low insertion losses. The fully canonical topology allows for increasing the selectivity of the filter since the number of finite transmission zeros is equal to the order of the filter.

Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease caused by bacteria, affecting humans and a broad range of wild and domestic animals in diverse epidemiological settings (rural, urban, and wild). The disease's pathogenesis and epidemiology are complex networks not fully elucidated. Epidemiology reflects the One Health integrated approach of environment-animal-human interaction, causing severe illness in humans and animals, with consequent public health burdens.

Hearing loss is highly related to acoustic injuries and mechanical damage of ear tissues. The mechanical responses of ear tissues are difficult to measure experimentally, especially cochlear hair cells within the organ of Corti (OC) at microscale. Finite element (FE) modeling has become an important tool for simulating acoustic wave transmission and studying cochlear mechanics.

Cell collectives, like other motile entities, generate and use forces to move forward. Here, we ask whether environmental configurations alter this proportional force-speed relationship, since aligned extracellular matrix fibers are known to cause directed migration. We show that aligned fibers serve as active conduits for spatial propagation of cellular mechanotransduction through matrix exoskeleton, leading to efficient directed collective cell migration.
