We explore the tilted-pulse-front excitation technique to control the superradiant emission of terahertz (THz) pulses from large-area photonconductive semiconductor switches. Two cases are studied. First, a photoconductive antenna emitting into free space, where the propagation direction of the optically generated THz beam is controlled by the choice of the tilt angle of the pump pulse front. Second, a THz waveguide structure with an integrated photoconductive window for the generation of THz radiation, where the injection of the THz radiation into a waveguide mode is optimized by the pulse front tilt. By providing long interaction lengths, such a waveguide-based optical-pump/THz-probe set-up may provide a new platform for the study of diverse short-lived optically induced excitations.
Background And Objective: The study examines the relationship between ocular rotations and cardiovascular functions through detailed biomechanical analysis. The study documents specific patterns of ocular movements and their synchronization with cardiovascular activity, highlighting significant correlations. These findings provide a basis for understanding the opto-biomechanical interplay between ocular and cardiovascular dynamics.

Cannabidiol (CBD) is a non-psychotropic cannabinoid obtained from hemp ( L.) used for pain management in companion animals including horses. The present study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of cannabidiolic acid (CBDA) and cannabigerol/cannabidiol oil (CBG/CBD) oral administration in alleviating pain in adult horses affected by chronic osteoarthritis (OA).
Objective: Targeted transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (tTENS) is a non-invasive neural stimulation technique that involves activating sensory nerve fibers to elicit tactile sensations in a distal, or referred, location. Though tTENS is a promising approach for delivering haptic feedback in virtual reality or for use by those with somatosensory deficits, it was not known how the perception of tTENS might be influenced by changing wrist position during sensorimotor tasks.
Approach: We worked with 12 able-bodied individuals and delivered tTENS by placing electrodes on the wrist, thus targeting the ulnar, median, and radial nerves, and eliciting tactile sensations in the hand.
Background: Indexing peak oxygen uptake (VOpeak) to total body mass can underestimate cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) in women, older adults, and individuals with obesity. The primary objective of this multicenter study was to derive and validate a body size-independent scaling metric for VOpeak. This metric was termed exercise body mass (EBM).
