Photonic bandgap fibers have a critical constraint determined by wavelength. The principle of scale invariance requires that features remain unchanged even as the scale of an object changes. This paper introduces a new concept for fractal photonic crystal fibers integrating these two. Our simulation confirmed single-mode transmission is possible for a fiber whose core diameter exceeds 35 times the wavelength.

The time-evolution of dynamics as well as microstructure and mechanical response of phosphate-based geopolymers was probed using x-ray photon correlation spectroscopy and rheological tests. The analyzed relaxation processes in the freshly prepared geopolymer mixes evidenced a q-independent mode of the autocorrelation function, ascribed to density fluctuations of the already established molecular network, undergoing reconfiguration without significant mass transport. Upon curing, the detected motions are localized and depict a system evolving toward structural arrest dominated by slower hyperdiffusive dynamics, characterized by a compressed exponential regime, pointing to a structural relaxation process subjected to internal stresses, in a context of marked dynamical and structural heterogeneity.

Mini-emulsion and nanoprecipitation techniques relied on large amounts of surfactants, and unresolved miscibility issues of heterojunction materials limited their efficiency and applicability in the past. Through our molecular design and developed surfactant-free precipitation method, we successfully fabricated the best miscible bulk-heterojunction-particles (BHJP) ever achieved, using donor () and acceptor () polymers. The structural similarity ensures optimal miscibility, as supported by the interaction parameter of the / blend is positioned very close to the binodal curve.

It is conventionally believed that macromolecules found in living cells, including DNA, RNA, and proteins, do not exhibit inherent light emission. However, recent studies have challenged this concept by demonstrating spontaneous light emission from nucleic acids under certain conditions and physiological temperatures. By noninvasive monitoring of barley genomic DNA and advanced statistical physics analyses, temperature-induced dynamic entropy fluctuations and fractal dimension oscillations were identified at a key organizational threshold.
