In this study, the stressed mirror polishing technique is used to perform off-axis aspheric silicon carbide (SiC) mirror full-aperture polishing for the first time. Mechanical and optical parameter analysis methods have been proposed. A medium-diameter off-axis aspheric SiC thin-plate mirror is used as a scaling model for an optical system mirror. A full diameter polishing simulation was completed, and a conceptual design for stress loading equipment is presented. An initial aspheric surface method for stressed mirror polishing of an off-axis aspheric SiC thin-plate mirror, providing a reference for rapid stress mirror polishing of SiC mirrors, is also proposed.

Objective: Transcutaneous osseointegration prosthetic systems (TOPS) offer a stable skeletal attachment for artificial limbs post-extremity amputation, serving as an alternative to socket attachment. Press-fit osseointegration implants (OI) utilized in TOPS consistently enhance quality of life and mobility for amputees, particularly those experiencing socket-related issues. Despite notable benefits, late complications such as infection and implant loosening pose challenges unique to TOPS due to their percutaneous nature.

Over the past 30 years, researchers have developed X-ray-focusing telescopes by employing the principle of total reflection in thin metal films. The Wolter-I focusing mirror with variable-curvature surfaces demands high precision. However, there has been limited investigation into the removal mechanisms for variable-curvature X-ray mandrels, which are crucial for achieving the desired surface roughness and form accuracy, especially in reducing mid-spatial frequency (MSF) errors.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the optimal surface roughness (Ra) of ceria-stabilized zirconia/alumina nanocomposite (Ce-TZP/Al₂O₃) implants for mouse gingival junctional epithelial cell (JE-1) adhesion and soft tissue sealing in vitro.
Methods: Titanium and Ce-TZP/Al₂O₃ disks were prepared, mechanically polished (M), and mirror-polished (Mr). The surface morphology of each disk was evaluated, and the Ra was measured using scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy.

ZrN and TiN thin coatings have been investigated for use on stainless steel for bipolar plates of proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers. Films were deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering using Ar and N from metallic Zr and Ti targets on different substrates to perform a deep characterization of their relevant properties. The effect of the deposition parameters, such as N/Ar ratio, working pressure, or supplied power, has been explored.
