Ubiquitinylation of proteins regulates manifold processes and is reversed by deubiquitinylating enzymes (DUBs), which are therefore implicated in a plethora of cellular processes. DUBs are frequently upregulated in many diseases, while in a few cases downregulation of DUBs is associated with disease progression. This review focuses on the involvement of DUBs in the development and progression of gastrointestinal diseases with a particular emphasis on hepatic steatosis and hepatocellular, cholangio-, esophageal, gastric, colorectal, and pancreatic ductal carcinomas.

Background: Peri-implantitis is an inflammatory bone disease that seriously affects the health of dental implants. Pyroptosis plays an important role in peri-implantitis and inhibition of pyroptosis may point out a new direction for treating the disease. The long non-coding RNA Negative Regulator of Interferon Response (lncRNA NRIR) is closely related to peri-implantitis and may be involved in the process of pyroptosis.

Purpose: Early detection and management of hypertensive disorders during pregnancy and postpartum are essential. This systematic review and meta analysis aimed: (1) to examine the state of 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) use, and (2) in a subset of studies, evaluate 24-hour ABP parameters in the prediction and identification of Hypertensive Disorders of Pregnancy (HDP).
Methods: A comprehensive literature search was conducted in March of 2022 for English language studies published after 2000.
Objectives: To describe changes in the volume and types of emergency medical services (EMS) calls for children during the COVID-19 pandemic and after availability of the COVID-19 vaccine ("reopening period").
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study of EMS 9-1-1 responses to children under 18 years for all causes over a 4-year period (2019-2022) reported in the National Emergency Medical Services Information System (NEMSIS) dataset. Data was stratified into three periods, Pre-pandemic, Pandemic and Reopening.

The escalating trend of inappropriate visits to Emergency Departments (ED) has led to significant concerns, including resource misallocation, compromised patient care, and an increased burden on healthcare workers. Portugal faces a notable challenge, reporting one of the highest ED visit rates, with an annual average of approximately 6 million ED visits from 2013 to 2023. In response, the "Call First, Save Lives" pilot project was launched by the Portuguese NHS Executive Board, in 2023, at the Local Health Unit (LHU) of Póvoa de Varzim/Vila do Conde.
