We present a case of an otherwise healthy 3-year-old child who presented with limping, bone pain, fatigue, and agitation. Differential diagnosis included an infection of the bone, malignancy, an inflammatory bone disease, and metabolic bone disease. Magnetic resonance imaging of the lower limbs and the spine was consistent with scurvy, and the diagnosis was confirmed by very low levels of vitamin C. Further history taking revealed a diet based entirely on dairy pudding, with no fruits or vegetables, and being a "picky eater" was the sole reason. Intravenous treatment with vitamin C led to full recovery. Previous reports of scurvy were in patients with other medical conditions, such as malabsorption, or behavioral conditions as in autism. This case demonstrates that scurvy, an almost forgotten condition from past centuries, can occur in otherwise healthy children and should raise awareness regarding the importance of a balanced diet and proper nutritional history taking. Following growth charts as the only screening tool for balanced and inclusive nutrition may not be sufficient.

Background: Appetite-regulating hormones are implicated in anorexia nervosa (AN) pathophysiology, however, data are limited for appetite-regulating hormones across the AN weight spectrum. We aimed to investigate fasting and post-prandial concentrations of appetite-regulating hormones - peptide YY (PYY), cholecystokinin (CCK), and ghrelin - among adolescent and young adult females across the AN weight spectrum, specifically those with AN and Atypical AN, and healthy controls (HC).
Methods: Participants (N = 95; ages 11-22 years) included 33 with AN, 25 with Atypical AN, and 37 HC.

High intakes of free sugars may have negative effects on health perhaps associated with their effect on nutrient and food group intakes. The primary aim of the study was to compare nutrient and food group intakes between children with habitual high or low intakes of free sugars to identify which foods could be targeted to improve the diets of children consuming excess free sugars. The secondary aim was to assess antecedents for a child being in the high free sugars group compared with the low to identify the age at which an intervention would be most effective.
