Apical and basal dendrites of pyramidal neurons receive anatomically and functionally distinct inputs, implying compartment-level functional diversity during behavior. To test this, we imaged in vivo calcium signals from soma, apical dendrites, and basal dendrites in mouse hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons during head-fixed navigation. To capture compartment-specific population dynamics, we developed computational tools to automatically segment dendrites and extract accurate fluorescence traces from densely labeled neurons.

Horizontal connections in anterior inferior temporal cortex (ITC) are thought to play an important role in object recognition by integrating information across spatially separated functional columns, but their functional organization remains unclear. Using a combination of optical imaging, electrophysiological recording, and anatomical tracing, we investigated the relationship between stimulus-response maps and patterns of horizontal axon terminals in the macaque ITC. In contrast to the "like-to-like" connectivity observed in the early visual cortex, we found that horizontal axons in ITC do not preferentially connect sites with similar object selectivity.

DO and HO, as two important solvents with very similar properties, play a pivotal role in nuclear industrial production, life and scientific research. Unfortunately, DO and HO are highly susceptible to contamination by each other, so effective qualitative and quantitative analyses of both are necessary. This review comprehensively discusses the progress in optical sensing for the detection of a trace amount of HO in heavy water or , mainly including five types of analytical systems: inorganic nanocrystals, carbon-based nanomaterials, lanthanide complexes, organic polymers, and organic small molecules.

Aim: To study the peculiarities of the ratio of the level of leptin and a number of toxic and essential chemical trace elements in biological environments in adolescent boys aged 13-14 years with obesity and delayed sexual development.
Materials And Methods: Three groups of adolescents aged 13-14 years were studied and formed: the main ones - with constitutional exogenous obesity of 1-2 degrees (1-20 boys without secondary signs of puberty; 2 - 24 boys with 2-4 stages of puberty according to Tanner) and comparisons (3 - 15 boys with normal body weight and without deviations in puberty).
Background: The thin descending limb (DTL) of the loop of Henle is crucial for urine concentration, as it facilitates passive water reabsorption. Despite its importance, little is known about how DTL cells form during kidney development. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) studies have not definitively identified DTL cells in the developing mouse kidney.
