In temperate and boreal ecosystems, trees undergo dormancy to avoid cold temperatures during the unfavorable season. This phase includes changes in frost hardiness, which is minimal during the growing season and reaches its maximum in winter. Quantifying frost hardiness is important to assess the frost risk and shifts of species distribution under a changing climate.

Trait variation in predator populations can influence the outcome of predator-prey dynamics, with consequences for trophic dynamics and ecosystem functioning. However, the influence of prey trait variation on the impacts of predators is not well understood, especially for introduced predators where variation in prey can shape invasion outcomes. In this study, we investigated if intra-specific differences in vertical position of influenced the impacts of the invasive zooplankton predator, on plankton communities.

Environmental factors such as mountain tectonic movements and monsoons can enhance genetic differentiation by hindering inter- and intra-specific gene flow. However, the phylogeographic breaks detected within species may differ depending on the different molecular markers used, and biological traits may be a major confounding factor. is a vulnerable relict species distributed throughout the Sichuan Basin.

The geophilid centipede is described and illustrated based on a single specimen collected from Provence, southern France. It is very similar to Bonato, Zapparoli, Drago & Minelli, 2016, which is known only from three specimens from south-western Sardinia, and was the only species in the genus Bonato, Zapparoli, Drago & Minelli, 2016. Both species share a remarkably narrow body, very short setae, and an unusually high number of legs, which are relatively stout.
