Purpose: Detecting the accuracy of various posterior elevation (PE) indices of Pentacam HR, and correlating them with some possibly related factors or parameters, in a cohort with early keratoconus (KC).

Methods: A cross sectional study that was conducted at Eye World Hospital, Egypt. One hundred and two corneas were enrolled, including two groups; group 1 (50 corneas) having forme fruste or early KC, and group 2 (52 corneas) for healthy controls. Corneas were scanned using Pentacam HR (Oculus, Wetzlar, Germany). The investigated PE parameters were: PE from best fit sphere (BFS), PE from best fit toric ellipsoid (BFTE), PE from exclusion map of Belin Ambrosio's display (BAD), and PE from difference map of BAD. The four PE values were correlated to age, thinnest corneal thickness "TCT," posterior aberrations, and posterior Q value.

Results: All the investigated indices were significantly different in group 1 compared to group 2 (p < 0.001). Accuracy of PE parameters revealed the highest AUROC for PE from BFTE (AUROC = 0.989, and best cutoff > 4 um with sensitivity 96.00% and specificity 96.15%). PE from difference map was the least accurate. Correlation coefficients showed a significant correlation between all the studied PE parameters and some of the posterior aberrations (root mean square of higher order aberrations, vertical coma, and spherical aberrations), besides a significant correlation with posterior Q value.

Conclusion: PE indices are sensitive detectors of early ectasia. PE from BFTE had the highest deduced AUROC. Alterations in PE values can significantly alter many posterior corneal aberrations and the posterior Q.

Purpose: To evaluate the association between the newly developed region of interest (ROI)-modified Mayo Adhesive Probability (MAP) score, in which stranding was re-evaluated by computed tomography (CT) number, for predicting operation time in robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN).

Methods: The study participants were 119 patients who underwent transperitoneal RAPN. With regard to stranding, ROIs were evaluated, and the mean CT numbers were assigned a score ranging from 0 to 3.

MRI Free Targeting of Deep Brain Structures in the Anterior Cingulate Cortex Using Facial Landmarks.

Emerging neurostimulation methods aim to selectively modulate deep brain structures. Guiding these therapies has presented a substantial chal- lenge, since imaging modalities such as MRI limit the spectrum of benefi- ciaries. In this study, we assess the guidance accuracy of a neuronavigation method that does not require taking MRI scans.

Bovine besnoitiosis, a disease caused by the tissue cyst-forming apicomplexan Besnoitia besnoiti, is re-emerging in Europe, leading to significant impairment of health and production, as well as economic losses. The early detection of the disease is of the utmost importance for the implementation of effective control measures, yet this is a challenge due to the lack of specific early clinical signs. The objectives of our study were 1) to estimate the diagnostic accuracy of three tests to detect B.

Alzheimers Dement

Frontotemporal Disorders Unit, Department of Neurology, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA.

Background: Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) is a syndrome characterized by a progressive decline in higher-order visuospatial processing, leading to symptoms such as space perception deficit, simultanagnosia, and object perception impairment. While PCA is primarily known for its impact on visuospatial abilities, recent studies have documented language abnormalities in PCA patients. This study aims to delineate the nature and origin of language impairments in PCA, hypothesizing that language deficits reflect the visuospatial processing impairments of the disease.

Introduction: Previous studies have examined the predictive accuracy of plasma amyloid beta (Aβ) biomarkers in clinical cohorts. However, their accuracy for predicting amyloid-positive patients in community-based cohorts is unclear. This study aimed to determine the predictive accuracy of Aβ precursor protein 669-711/Aβ1-42, Aβ1-40/1-42 and their composite biomarkers for brain amyloid deposition or the clinical progression in community-dwelling older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
