Microemulsion cleaning method has been proved to be an effective way to clean oily sludge with low interfacial tension and high solubilizing ability for non-miscible liquids. In this paper, the percentage range of the microemulsion in the formulation was obtained by studying phase behavior of the microemulsion. The response surface method was used to model and optimize the microemulsion to obtain the best formulation: n-BuOH content at 9.89%, NaCl content at 2.24% and AES/APG ratio at 3.75, and the oil removal rate reached 97.28%. Meanwhile, the cleaning conditions of oil sludge were also optimized by the response surface method and the optimal cleaning parameters were determined as liquid-solid ratio at 4.2, stirring rate at 157 r·min, and stirring time at 38 min. In addition, some experiments were carried out to confirm the simulation results, affording the oil removal rate of 98.79%. SEM and FTIR confirmed that the oil on the sludge can be removed by microemulsion.

Transmissibility is used to assess dynamic responses of the occupant-seat system, and most studies have exclusively assessed the transmissibility from the floor to the cushion or the backrest surface with the human body. In this investigation, the vertical vibration transmitted from the floor to six specific locations both on the seat surface and the frame when the seat was fixed on three positions on the track was examined utilizing an SAE J826 manikin and 12 male adults (0.25 to 20 Hz) for a duration of 120 seconds at three vibration amplitudes.

Natural skin receptors use ions as signal carriers, while most of the developed artificial tactile sensors utilize electrons as information carriers. To imitate the biological ionic sensing behavior, here, we present a kind of biomimetic, ionic, and fully passive mechanotransduction mechanism leveraging mechanical modulation of interfacial ionic p-n junction (IPNJ) through microchannels. Sensors based on this mechanism do not rely on an external power supply and can encode external tactile stimuli into highly analogous signal outputs to those of natural skin receptors, in terms of both signal type (i.

The urgent need to address the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance in multidrug-resistant bacteria requires the development of pioneering approaches to treatment. The present study aims to evaluate the antimicrobial potential of the essential oils (EOs) of Moringa oleifera (moringa), Cinnamomum verum (cinnamon), and Nigella sativa (black seed) and the synergistic effect of the mixture of these oils against Staphylococcus aureus MCC 1351. Statistical modeling revealed cinnamon oil had the highest individual antimicrobial potency, followed by black seed oil.

During the harvest of Ilex paraguariensis, approximately 2-5 tons per hectare of thick stems are left on the soil surface. The outer portion of these stems, referred to as the coproduct, constitutes 30% of the total residue mass. Although this coproduct has been partially characterized in terms of its phytochemical profile, its technological applications remain unexplored.
