Background: Little is known regarding how lower extremity joint function recovers in the 6 months following periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) for activities other than walking.
Purpose: Assess patient-reported outcomes, hip strength, lower extremity joint moments, and moment distributions during sit-to-stand in a female athlete during the one-year period following PAO.
Methods: Patient-reported outcomes (i.e. hip and groin outcome score; HAGOS), hip strength, and lower extremity joint moments and contributions to peak support moment during the sit-to-stand were assessed pre-operatively and at 6 weeks, 12 weeks, 6 months, and 13 months following PAO.
Results: HAGOS scores returned to normative ranges, however overall quality of life scores remained low. By 13-month muscle strength recovered to baseline values. Following surgery, peak support and hip extensor moments were higher on the non-surgical limb, but the contributions of hip, knee, and ankle to peak support moment did not change. On the surgical limb, while peak support moments were lower, the hip contributed less, and the knee contributed more. These asymmetric loading patterns gradually normalized over 1 yea-.
Conclusions: Asymmetric loading following PAO should be considered when developing rehabilitation plans following this surgery.

Few studies have explored hip morphology and cartilage composition in female athletes or the impact of asymmetric repetitive loading, such as occurs during softball pitching. The current cross-sectional study assessed bilateral bony hip morphology on computed tomography imaging in collegiate-level softball pitchers ('Pitch1', n = 25) and cross-country runners ('Run', n = 13). Magnetic resonance imaging was used to assess cartilage relaxation times in a second cohort of pitchers ('Pitch2', n = 10) and non-athletic controls ('Con', n = 4).

Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in patients undergoing endoscopic endonasal surgery remains underexplored, despite its potential impact on postoperative recovery. This study aimed to develop and validate a predictive nomogram for assessing the risk of lower-limb DVT in such patients without chemoprophylaxis. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 935 patients with postoperative lower-limb vein ultrasonography.

Background: This study investigated the influence of surgical alignment techniques on knee joint biomechanics during stair negotiation tasks. Our hypothesis was that a more personalized joint alignment would result in reduced medial knee loading biomechanics to negotiate the stairs.
Methods: There were 28 adults (14 mechanical alignments [MA], 14 kinematic alignment [KA]) who underwent total knee arthroplasty (TKA) at least one year post-operatively and performed five stair ascent and descent trials at their preferred velocities.

Background: Proximal femoral fractures has been associated with high mortality risk, while little is known about more distal lower extremity fractures. The aim was to report 30- and 365-days mortality in surgically treated lower extremity fractures in individuals above 65 years.
Materials And Methods: We extracted data from the Danish National Patient Register on all surgically treated lower extremity fracture in the period 1998-2017.

This study investigates the effects of electrical stimulation (EMS) combined with strength training on lower limb muscle activation and badminton jump performance, specifically during the "jump smash" movement. A total of 25 male badminton players, with a minimum of three years of professional training experience and no history of lower limb injuries, participated in the study. Participants underwent three distinct conditions: baseline testing, strength training, and EMS combined with strength training.
