Using both multi-informative molecular network and score-based approaches as prioritization strategies, the Northeastern Atlantic marine terebellid was selected for in-depth chemical investigation. A family of 16 new metabolites named nebulosins was isolated and structurally characterized from extensive analyses of HRMS/MS and NMR spectroscopic data. Nebulosins feature an unprecedented highly substituted thiolane ring leading to up to four contiguous chiral centers. The relative configurations were assigned through a combination of NOESY analysis, spin-spin coupling constant analysis, and NMR chemical shifts measurements, while the absolute configurations were determined by comparison between experimental and theoretical ECD spectra. This family of natural product exhibits promising antioxidant activities in both ORAC and ROS assays.

The present study reports the occurrence of Eutrombicula goeldii (Oudemans) (Trombidiformes: Trombiculidade) on free-living common marmosets, Callithrix jacchus, in Sergipe state, northeastern Brazil. Fifty-two marmosets were captured from 12 family groups, and during the examination of some individuals, orange mites were detected in the peripheral region of the ear and eyelids. The mites were collected via skin scrapings and transparent adhesive tape and observed under a microscope.

Data series on spurdog movement and habitat use have been somewhat limited to research surveys due to challenges associated with electronic tagging. Here, we offer a revised attachment method for externally attached pop-up satellite archival tags that was successful in long-term deployments on pregnant females.

Confined by the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the European continental shelf, the deep-sea acorn barnacle (Hoek, 1883) lives in the northeast Atlantic deep sea, where it has been frequently reported in high current areas. Cemented to a solid substrate during its entire adult life, the species can only disperse by means of planktotrophic nauplius larvae. This study reports on the occurrence, ecology and genetic connectivity of from four sites within the northeastern Iceland Basin and presents the first record of the species living affiliated with hydrothermal vent field on the Reykjanes Ridge axis.

Mesozooplankton plays a pivotal role within marine food webs. However, there is a paucity of studies examining the size-spectra and trophic efficiency of these communities in tropical neritic and oceanic waters. Here, normalised biovolume (NBSS) and normalised numbers size-spectra (NNSS) were fitted on zooplankton data from the southwestern tropical Atlantic.

The blonde capuchin monkey (Sapajus flavius) was, until a few years ago, an endemic primate of the Atlantic Forest. Today, populations inhabit the Caatinga dry forest and these have been documented using stone tools to access encased foods. It is important to know the distribution of these sites and the characteristics of the stone tools to inform conservation actions for this primate in the Caatinga.
