Two-dimensional (2D) organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite (OIHP) ferroelectrics have attracted widespread interest in the field of optoelectronics due to the combination of excellent semiconducting and ferroelectric properties. The Curie temperature (T ), below which ferroelectricity exists, is a crucial parameter for ferroelectrics. However, the lack of research on T tuning of 2D OIHP ferroelectrics hinders their further progress. Here, through incorporating ethylammonium (EA) as cage-confined rotators, we obtained two 2D OIHP ferroelectrics, (IBA) (EA)Pb Br (2L; IBA=isobutylammonium), and (IBA) (EA) Pb Br (3L). Intriguingly, T is successfully tuned from 326 K (2L) to 370 K (3L) with increasing layer thickness. Structural and computational analyses suggest that the improvement of T is due to the higher phase-transition energy barrier triggered by the cage-confined EA rotators with increased layer thickness. This work suggests that EA is an effective "cage-confined rotator" to rationally design high-T 2D OIHP ferroelectrics.

Over the past years, the application potential of ferroelectric nanomaterials with unique physical properties for modern electronics is highlighted to a large extent. However, it is relatively challenging to fabricate inorganic ferroelectric nanomaterials, which is a process depending on a vacuum atmosphere at high temperatures. As significant complements to inorganic ferroelectric nanomaterials, the nanomaterials of molecular ferroelectrics are rarely reported.

2D organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) have become one of the hottest research topics due to their excellent environmental stability and unique optoelectronic properties. Recently, the ferroelectricity and thermochromism of 2D OIHPs have attracted increasing interests. Integrating ferroelectricity and thermochromism into perovskites can significantly promote the development of multichannel intelligent devices.

A two-dimensional (2D) organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite (OIHP) material with out-of-plane ferroelectricity is the key to the miniaturization of vertical-sandwich-type ferroelectric optoelectronic devices. However, 2D OIHP ferroelectrics with out-of-plane polarization are still scarce, and effective design strategies are lacking. Herein, we report a novel 2D Dion-Jacobson perovskite ferroelectric semiconductor synthesized by a rigid-to-flexible cationic tailoring strategy, achieving an out-of-plane polarization of 1.

Abundant chemical diversity and structural tunability make organic-inorganic hybrid perovskites (OIHPs) a rich ore for ferroelectrics. However, compared with their inorganic counterparts such as BaTiO, their ferroelectric key properties, including large spontaneous polarization (P), low coercive field (E), and strong second harmonic generation (SHG) response, have long been great challenges, which hinder their commercial applications. Here, a quasi-one-dimensional OIHP DMAGeI (DMA = Dimethylamine) is reported, with notable ferroelectric attributes at room temperature: a large P of 24.

Organic-inorganic halide perovskites (OIHPs) are very eye-catching due to their chemical tunability and rich physical properties such as ferroelectricity, magnetism, photovoltaic properties and photoluminescence. However, no nickel-based OIHP ferroelectrics have been reported so far. Here, we designed an ABX OIHP ferroelectric (3-pyrrolinium)NiCl, where the 3-pyrrolinium cations are located on the voids surrounded by one-dimensional chains composed of NiCl-face-sharing octahedra hydrogen bonding interactions.
